first off...I'm going to drive the truck to work tomorrow to see if it does the same thing, but until then, gonna see if anyone of you have an idea what went wrong.

I'm bringing a buddy of mine home from work today, sticking with city streets. Takes about 20 minutes, afterwards when I'm on my way to my house, I hit the interstate. I'm on the merge ramp and go to speed up to my usual 70. I don't feel or hear the engine revving like I usually do. I look at the gauges...I'm going 65 and my RPMS are at 4000. I ease up, thinking I overdid it with the pedal. Slowly get up to 70....decide to try it again just to see what happened. I push the pedal to try to get up to 80....power drops to 65 mph and rpm goes back up to 4000. Felt like all the guts had been ripped out. No power, no rev, just whoooooo.

I'm thinking a solenoid got stuck or the plugs need changing. Other than that, I have no idea.

Maybe the tranny was cold, but I had been driving 20-30 mins before (not going above 50 though) and truck was sitting in 50 degree weather for 8 hours.

Like I said, I'm gonna try it again tomorrow to and from work, but until then.....any ideas or anyone this has happened to before?

Pull the trans dip stick and smell the fluid if it has a burnt smell to it you may have lost some clutches also look at the color and level on the dip stick.I had a similar problem with my nissan titan low fluid ond burned up the over drive clutches

Bad fuel would give you a rough idle or like a miss our stumblig would also trip check engine light sounds more like a trans issue does the engine sound normal when you try to increase the throttle in netural or park?

Everything sounded and felt normal up until I tried to hit above 70. No problems with pickup power and acceleration below that speed.

Makes me wonder if you have a fuel delivery issue or solenoid problem in the trans. I’m thinking fuel delivery though.

It's been over a year since the lift (6 months of spacer lift and 10 on BOSS) I'm no expert but I'd think I'd have noticed by now. :notsure:

Not sure, seems to me you are running out of fuel at high demand (more throttle for getting in the freeway).

If you zoom in, you will see there is a small valve in the middle of the fuel injector that could be clogged.

If you are trying to do highway speeds 65/70 and the motor is turning 4grand most likely have a trans issue.trans is not going into higher gear thats why the motors turning such high revs. If you had a fuel problem the motor would want to fall on its face. You can definitely feel a fuel issue

    Too many…scratch that…not done yet.
I agree with @ColoradoTJ....I think fuel delivery to be the culprit. Could be injectors, but my first thought was fuel filter or fuel pump....which as ColoradoTJ noted might only be noticeable when fuel is at high demand. That said if it was a bad pump or the injectors, I think you could/would have some occasions of the issues at lower speeds.

At 70K, if you've never changed the fuel filter, I'd start there. Once you run down the tank near E, change the fuel filer, fill it with Gas (no Ethanol) and add a bottle of injector cleaner.
    Good luck!

That is exactly what my boat was doing at the beginning of the season. Turned out to be a clogged injector.

You don't have a fuel filter either. Take it out, see if you can reproduce the symptoms. If it happens again, pull the trans fill plug and jab your finger in there to see if you can get some fluid on it to do a sniff check for burned fluid. If you're able to rev to 4k rpms, I wouldn't think that there's a shortage of fuel. The biggest mystery in my mind is that your dash isn't lit up to indicate a fault.

    UPDATE:
Ok, just drove to work. Now it feels like the engine doesn't want to get in gears 3 and above at the right time. It's especially worse when going up hills. I never go above 2500 rpm but this time around it just sticks in one gear and around 3000, it finally shifts. Weird shifts too. Sometimes when I let off the pedal, it downshifts. Doesn't feel harsh, timing just feels off and truck has lost its guts across the board.

Try this to rule out fuel system in park or netural let it idle then start to bring the rpm up do you hear or feel like the engine has a miss fire or any type of a stumble?
