Anyone got a good source for trd pro grills?

Update: All dealerships are reporting a nationwide backorder for the last four months. One dealer had a 2018 grill but its the honeycomb style and I prefer the black bar that spells out toyota style

I paid for a hood bulge and pro grill at 25% off from fred anderson toyota last oct. expected ship date is sept. It was a good price, but still waiting for them.

 

The new one or 17 style?

 

One for a 17, no sensors or anything. Just white pro grill. They have the bulge, just not the grill yet.

 

Ahh ok, I had taken mine off the 17 pro and switched over to the newer trd pro

Did the same for my dads ‘19, except ordered from Hendrick in Apex. Got the grille but still waiting on the hood bulge.

 

Called lakeland, they said both parts have been on a nationwide backorder for 4 months

 

I talked to a toyota dealer, they have a white 2018 grill in stock, but wont guarantee it will fit my 2017 due to a headlight update. He said theres a slight shape difference in headlights between 2017-2018. Originally I thought any 14-21 grill would swap. Can anyone shed some light on this?

 

Thats funny, I put 2018 LED lights in my 17, fit perfect, even with stock grill. I think the issue is 18 is when the TSS sensors got into the truck.

 

Since you dont have TSS you have more options. You can wait it out but who knows when they will be back in stock. You could buy a good aftermarket one and have it painted at a body shop or you could go to one of the aftermarket sites and get one color matched but you’re gonna pay over a grand easy on that option for both the grill and hood molding(bulge).

 

Would the 18+ grills come with a hole that ill have to buy a plate for?

 

Of its a non Pro it will have the Toyota emblem that looks just like yours but it will have the sensor hook up in the emblem. If you just swap Toyota emblems you’ll be ok. That’s one option I forgot about. I think you’ll be fine with the 2018. I put a 17 on my 21 and just swapped over my emblem and good to go.

Same thing. No TSS, no issue.

 

Yep and if you need TSS to work, I'd suggest you pony up for the OEM one that costs as much as the grill. If you're pre-TSS you can buy any Amazon or eBay ones. Or I think someone makes 3D printed ones here on this site if that's what you prefer.

Overall, it seems ok. It does have a couple sections that are wavy or "bubbled" up on the top .. but overall, it's doing what I need it to for now. The ebay store was, I think, vipzonepart, then search for Tundra

 

Yea.. It's just the center part of the grille. I ordered this with cement surround, as it's the cheapest option for color match, and put the honeycomb center from my chrome grille in the paint matched grille and took this out.

 

How hard is it to switch out inserts?

 

It's a pain to get started... And it's hard to remain patient and go slow so you don't break tabs, but it's doable. Start at one of the sides and once y2get one or two to pop out, it's downhill from there.

 

Im running an eBay pro grill and color match surround and bulge on my 21. No tss issues but I bought a cheap sensor cover, seperated the garnish from the plastic backing, cut a large square in the plastic backing and then glued them together. No tss issue.

 

Just got this after inquiring about my white pro grill and hood bulge for 17 Tundra, ordered october 2024.
i replied that i would wait.


BTW, in no way trying to burn dealership, just an update on wait times.They’ve been helpful, just out of their control.

 

Do you remember the seller on eBay? I have a silver 2021 and have been wanting to swap but not having any luck with oem so looking for another option.
