Im probably way behind and playing catch up but in my opinion I do appreciate having a 401k, at least its something, but what I hate about the 401k is its playing the stock market with my retirement money. I am far from a financial wizard but when you have x amount of money in you 401k and the market drops and you loose 5k in a day, it was a couple years ago I think and I checked my 401k at the beginning of the year and at the end of the same year and everything i put into it through out the year was gone. By the end of the year I had a little less than what I started with at the beginning of the year. It was like i was loosing 7% give or take of my paycheck every 2 weeks so I dropped the percentage to like 2 percent to be able to put more money in my pocket and less in the stock market.

No, I haven't and never heard of that. Im guilty of not educating myself on this stuff when I know I need to. I tried talking to our tax guy about this stuff and I understand he's trying to make a living too but we get done talking and he's like OK that will be 50 dollars and I dont know alot of people to sit down and dig into the ins and outs. Im trying to educate myself though
