I haven't done mine yet, but I will say that w/the number of components that need to be removed, make sure anything else you want to do (other black out pieces, red start/stop button, FRAC, etc.) is hand so you can pull it apart once and be done...

I have a meso kit right next to the box with this piece. I agree, its got to be a one time thing. I should make sure I have it all ordered and didn't miss anything before I do it.

Anyone know how long it takes to do this job? 2 hours? 4 hours? 20 minutes?

I tried to find my order email with the part number but can't for some reason. I ordered mine from Fred Anderson online parts store when they had a 25% sale going on. But it's an OEM part, just black instead of the silver that comes in the trucks. Some people have painted the silver though and had good results.

I've taken my dash apart several times to paint that piece. It's become an easy job now and you'll find it real easy after you've done it. Watch the video by nitro that's mentioned above. Are you in So Cal?

If you're planning on doing some of the other blackout parts, such as trim rings, 4x4 knob ring, etc... I'd plan 4-6 hours and just really take your time w/o feeling rushed, and you should be good. It looks like it's a lot, but Toyota for the most part makes disassembly and reassembly pretty easy without ending up w/a bunch of loose panels and such like some other mfr's...

For me, if I plan 2 hours on something, and then I get to hour #3 or 4 I really start to rush; and that's when I get sloppy and start breaking clips and such.

You probably already know this, but any of the yellow clips that are left behind when removing a part... take the clip off the dash piece is was left behind on and reattach it to the part that you'll be clipping back into place. Those clips have a tendency to break if you try to push the trim piece into the yellow clip while it's being held in the dash part... Hope that makes sense!!!

Exactly like you said.... When I watch how "Easy" it looks on these YouTube videos I factor in my non-flexible self and extra large body which adds at least an hour to most projects. I ordered some of those yellow clips off Amazon for just in case :)

I’m right there with you being in Alabama. This won’t blow your doors off, but definitely helps.

However, pair this with the LandCruiser blower motor mod & it’s much much better.

Also, if you don’t have ceramic tint, you’re really missing out.

It was disgustingly hot yesterday, and after say 5 mins in the truck I will generally knock the AC off high, and I’m a very hot natured sweater.

But that’s because I have all three improvements. Ceramic tint would be my first priority out of the three…

Installing SDHQ ABS gaurds. And sheared a bolt. Then broke the extraction tool in the hole too. So...now I'm trying to figure that out.

Tundra turned 100 so I replaced the broken hood bulge with a whole bulge, grille, and surround assembly a guy was selling on marketplace for only $50.

Unfortunately my emblem was too old to fit, anyone have a link to a decent knockoff on ebay thats cheaper than the $200 oem one?

At one point I just said... "fuck it" I'll replace the drivers rear axle I know how to do that... then saw the current cost of parts and then remembered the effort involved... that's when I felt defeated.

I will be dremeling away at it thru the week. Bit by bit.

There were indeed more access points on the drivers side. Thanks for the heads up!
Pulled the rubber factory plug and meshed over it, didnt wanna risk them chewing through it. Snap trapped two of the little bastards last night. Reset em and will keep at it until theyre gone.
