I bought a new 2025 SR5 tundra one month ago. first month, drove it back and forth to work. just drove 1170 miles straight on a road trip. now have 2200 miles on it. truck was loaded up with college stuff for my kid. I filled up twice (21 gallons each time) when the "miles remaining at 100). truck has the 32 gallon tank. I may or may not have exceeded the speed limit on this trip, still got 16.7 mpg. truck is fast and drives like a dream on the highway. the lane trace assist is not good. the dynamic radar cruise control is nice, but brakes aggressively. i played with the setting the distance function and two bars worked best for me. I have the factory tri-fold hard tonneau bed cover. i will say its 99% water tight, and i was pleasantly suprised at how well it worked considering i drove through 6 hours of unrelenting rain. this leads to my next observation, the wipers on high speed are not good enough in a bad south east downpour. also related to the rain, after three hours of down pouring rain the DRCC unit just stopped working. a day later it must have dried out, as it is now working. One other observation, i did not see hood flutter at very high speeds, but did notice hood flutter when the wind was blowing at 90 degrees to my travel direction. to sum up; ride is great, cabin is quiet, stock tires (yokohoma geolandars) are good in the rain. I'm happy with MPG. my extreme rain test may have exposed a weakness in the waterproofing of the DRCC. maybe a normal person would have pulled over when the wipers couldn't keep up. my tri-fold hard cover is very good.

If you look, my link is washer fluid from Rain x. Does the same thing without having to deal with applying it.

I actually want to try the ceramic window coating. I tried doing wax but it more for trying to wipe bugs off easier, no luck on that.

A Google search for "rain-x problems" shows that some folks have had problems with it.

Googling anything will result in some people having problems with anything.

Just think, even if you are only average intelligence, half the country is dumber than you.

Even my wife commented on how slow the windshield wipers were, on high. The motor needs one more speed. Only complaint I have with the truck.

My experience is that RainX (not on this Tundra but long ago) will soon make the wipers grab, skip, and jump. Had to remove it with Bon Ami. I avoid that stuff like the plague. Clean windshield and OEM blades FTW. Every time.

Agreed 100% and most people are dopes.
I worked with this guy and he was complaining that his wipers were not keeping up in a heavy rain storm, so the next day I gave him my bottle of rain x.
The very next day it poured again so when I had asked him how'd you make out?
He said it sucked and made it worse!
    I asked how so?
He went on and on about it smearing and making it all hazy and could barely see out of his windshield,so I looked at his windshield and asked did you clean it first before you put it on?
His reply no was I supposed to?

So here ya go with zero common sense and goes to show that he didn't have the common sense to even read the directions of how to...

Those I know that complain about it don't clean the windshield first, and/or do not realize you must wipe the windshield down after it dries. When done right, you don't even need to use wipers.

Thanks for good review and congrats on the new Tundra ! Also impressive that this is only your 3rd post since joining in 2019 !!! ..when people of few words speak, it's worth a listen imo. Did you trade in a 2nd gen ?

    DIRECTIONS:

Clean and thoroughly dry surfaces before treating.
    Apply in temperatures above 40°F.
    • Turn sprayer nozzle to spray/on position, pointing away from face.
    • Apply Rain-x® to a small, folded, dry cloth and wipe onto exterior glass using a firm, circular and overlapping motion.
    • Allow to dry until slight haze appears.
    • Reapply Rain-X® to ensure complete and uniform coverage.
    • Remove final haze with dry cloth or by sprinkling with water and wiping with a paper towel until crystal clear.
    • After use, turn sprayer nozzle to off position. Store and transport in a closed, upright position.

I’ve never had any issues using rain-x. I just simply followed their instructions. I hardly use my wipers. I believe the key to having it work as you believe it should is the step where they state to reapply after the first coat is dried to a haze.
