That setup sounds cool, maybe in the future I'll do a bigger upgrade, but for now I'm ballin on a budget.

Well that's good to know it should be pretty plug and play (for the most part). I found a decent deal on a JBL BassPro SL (not v2). CF says that it's not compatible though. I'm not sure why since it seems to be the exact same as SL2 which is compatible. Is it because they don't offer it anymore and can't determine compatibility, or am I missing something..?

If the SL model works I plan on picking up the CK12 wiring kit for power.

I did have a question on the RCA cable though, will any '2 channel patch cables' work? I'm assuming I can just plug 2 ends into the greens of the HU, and the other ends into the red/white from the sub.

Sorry for simple questions, my audio experience is not the best.

OK, now that I can see this on a bigger screen, did you use 2/0 THHN on that? Is that why you were asking about a wire bender? WHERES YOUR WELDING CABLE? Black AND red?

Yea, got some fat wire from a neighbor. She said 2 gauge, which is why i got the 2awg lugs that didnt fit. The best kind of kill is overkill.

That's a lot bigger than #2. Plus #2 is only good for 125A. If that bish can do 200A, you'll want 2/0 anyways.

    Bless the rains!

Just like "wrapped up like a douche, another rubber in the night", or "I'll be your plastic toilet", it's another one of those fun commonly-misheard lyrics...

So, it's not that I don't like the band, but this part of the song pisses me off, and here's the reason why. Everyone that lives in this region of Africa knows it's a bullshit line, I guess they'd never really been to Africa, so the whole song is kinda bullshit. How can you miss somewhere you've never been? (I joke, the song was supposedly about interracial relationships, and Africa in this case, is a woman of color. If true, I'm guessing Kilimanjaro is either a euphemism for her boobs or his dong)

Well, it's 100% not compatible with the stock stereo (not w/o adapters!), so if you're plugging it into Crutchfield's system using your truck, i.e. they will think it has the stock stereo, then yes, it's going to tell you it's not compatible. I just wish they'd indicate it could be compatible with either (A) adapters or (B) an aftermarket radio.

Don't hesitate to call Crutchfield. Talk to a sales rep. They know this stuff inside and out. Don't be intimidated by it, they're there to help guide you thru this. Everyone that works there gets training on these things, and they primarily hire audio fanatics with systems in their vehicles to work for them. (shit, maybe I need to get a job there instead of staying in the tech world?! )

Before answering that question, or while answering that question I want to highlight something I said earlier which is a bit of an important point.

There will be two connections between your radio and the sub:
    1. The RCA cable, and yes, it's OK to use a 2-channel (i.e. left+right plug) RCA cable
    2. The amplifier turn-on lead, which is a single wire you attach to your radio harness, and it turns on/off the subwoofer when the radio is on or off.
Fortunately for you, plenty of companies make a 2-channel cable that has the turn-on wire included with it, like this XScorpion 18TR cable. But really, you DO NOT need to buy more than a 6ft long RCA cable. It needs to be at least 4ft long, but anything over 6-8ft long is waaay overkill.

But make sure the RCA cable you buy is, ideally, shielded, and also has this extra turn-on-lead wire included. This way you're only running one cable from the radio to the sub, and covering all your bases in one shot!

PS - I looked at Crutchfield. No cables like this with an integrated turn-on lead, it seems.

I believe that’s called “artistic license”. It’s a song, don’t take it so literally. It’s not a political song or one that’s meant to piss others off with its lyrics.

Although, it would have been nice had they actually gone there rather than describe it in the third person.

Have yall heard of the Magic Box carplay/andriod auto add on? It's pretty expensive, but it seems to add additional features to the android auto/carplay like Netflix and so on.

I have one sitting in a box, but it's the Magic Link. And it works great. @The Black Mamba turned me onto it. The radio you plug into has to support wired carplay. I was using it with my Alpine W650 to get wireless CarPlay. I was going to give it to whoever I sold the Alpine to.

I've noticed a bit of a lag in keypresses with it. But I'm told this is just a normal symptom of CarPlay because it uses wifi vs. bluetooth.

Yep, She's been driving it about a month. Worst part is, she didn't need to pull over next to the garage that close. That is just what the wife and I do with our vehicles to give her more room to back out between us. Oh well. Maybe teach her how to prep and paint the bumper or just find a new skin at the junk yard. There are plenty this color listed on FB marketplace in our area right now.

I think learning to back without turning until clearing the parallel is just one of those things... Prolly better at home than in the parking lot next to an expensive car.
