My 2006 Tundra has a loose lower fan shroud. It is held on with the two side clips but the lower part seems to be able to flop around and pull out of the recessed holding area. Are there supposed to be additional clips down below to hold it all together, or how does that hold?

IIRC, there are some tabs or something that it slots into and the clips tie the upper and lower together? Been a minute since I was in there for that, may be mis-remembering.

The top of my fan shroud was loose recently on my 2006, and I found it was missing a bolt. I think there are two or three bolts per side that hold it in? Luckily, I had a spare bolt in my bolts bin that fit nicely. Doesn't match, but it fit.

Sorry, I should have been more clear. This is the plastic piece that clips in to the bottom of the top shroud. The top/side clips are there, but since the bottom shroud is so flexible, it can pop in and out of the slots easily. perhaps mine is just worn down enough.

Got a pic? I'm having a hell of a time visualizing what you're talking about. Is the part showing in this exploded diagram from Toyota's EPC?

Part number is 90468-06092 if you need it. That link will take you to the purchase page from the Toyota Parts Program website, and if you start the order there, many local dealers will give you up to 50%-80% off the MSRP part price you see listed **if** you set up the part to pick up from them directly.

If you go to the counter or call to order, they'll charge you full MSRP. Using the TPP is a backdoor to get close-to-wholesale pricing on a ton of stuff.

If the problem is just that the plastic on the part with index# 16712 is worn down, I can pull that p/n also.

Thanks. I'm looking and am blind. Where is that clip located in any of the diagrams?

Interesting. Not sure. I'm wondering if someone snapped a clip off that piece. That smaller fan shroud U-shaped thing is 16712-0F030. I see it's on scAmazon, and one on fleaBay - not that I'd ever purchase from either, because you'll probably get knockoffs - but the pics on both those places aren't clear enough to show if there's supposed to be a more-pronounced barb on those two tabs that would be grabbing more-firmly into the main shroud. It's also possible there's clips missing in the shroud.

I won't be able to check my 2006 until a little later today. But maybe someone else in closer proximity to their truck can check? A wad of butyl tar would probably help hold it in place.

I pulled it from here, for my 2006 access cab. My radiator is same as regular cab, but different from double cab. Here is the diagram in EPC: https://toyota-usa.epc-data.com/tundra/uck40/3806/engine/1603/?full&picture=2

(click 'refresh' a few times if you get an error message)

I dunno what cab type you have, though because you haven't put that info into the 'Vehicle One Line Description' in your user profile. We normally want to see inside that box your: Year. Cab type. Engine type. 2wd or 4wd. SR5 or Limited. Then click Save. This helps us make sure we don't give you bad part numbers. I know the clip will be the same regardless of cab. I don't know if the shroud parts will be the same if you have double cab.

I like your idea and I do have some butyl that would work for that. Thanks, I will just do that and call it good. I am probably going to sell the truck and don't want it to be a problem for someone else but while I'm waiting for the title to come in, I can put that fix on and see if it holds. I was also thinking I could drill a tiny hole and run a piece of baling wire through.

Updated. Thanks. I don't plan on keeping this truck very long, it was just a quick project to do something and make a few bucks on it. I drive a 2024 Tacoma.. in fact, here are both trucks.20250815_105700.jpg 20250815_105716.jpg

    Just two clips.

There is a tab (or two) that should slot into the main shroud as well.
