What? Chrome plated starfish wheels or do you think it’s just a spray on?

I wouldn’t mind getting that done myself but I’ve heard the cost of plating is about the same as buying new wheels.

Plating aluminum wheels is a losing battle, especially if they get knicked. Dissimilar metals & all.

i’d wanna polish em after the copper dip, anyway.

Damn, those are nice. I've seen some decent results with chrome powder coating that would be a lot cheaper than getting real chrome plating. I have already wasted too much of my life polishing aluminum motorcycle parts, I will not start on truck parts. Also the upkeep would be a bitch on polished truck wheels. Might need to sand the rims first just to have a smoother surface for the fake chrome. I feel like the Patricks have some texture in the casting, but I can't be bothered to get off my ass and walk over to my truck to feel the rim. Those are most likely dipped or wrapped.

That's a clean truck. Looks garaged.

Have a stock '04 3.4L 4x4 with snugtop, bedrug ... and stock textured starfish.

I wish mine could look as good.

Semi-metallic pads + winter + salted roads = burned in brake dust no matter how often they’re cleaned which is minimal when it’s below 20F outside.

They didn’t have ceramic pads available to use from Toyota until around 2010 or so IIRC.

I didn’t learn about the aftermarket shields to put on them until that time as well.

Think that was right after hand polishing away years of brake dust and road grime with aluminum polish and a rag and putting on the new tires ....

Tundra wheels still had some burned in grime after the same treatment. Repaint maybe some day. Flat black = easy (to hold dirt and to repaint).

You may want to look into dual or triple 8" board that uses the storage compartments.

    https://store.soundsolutionsaudio.c...fX33aMgeHau2L-RzE_VFSV7aoqIsCsQsBqFyYxPoGNTyA

If you go that route, you will need a separate amp and wiring kit. CT sounds would be a good option

I pulled up that head unit on scAmazon, it's basically the same thing PLZ, ATOTO and a few other mostly-generic brands are selling. Hey, if it works it works. I wouldn't install it in my truck, but I'm an audio snob when it comes to my vehicles, I can't help it. No judgment from me on your choice, though.

There are clearly subwoofer outputs on the rear of the radio you chose. The green jacks I'm circling in the pic below, from that scAmazon radio's page. That unit is setup for output to multiple amps, with the top red/white RCA pair to feed an amp to the rear speakers, the red/white pair below it to feed an amp for the front, and the two green RCA outputs to feed an amp for the subs.

So essentially, you'd pick an amplified sub you like which accepts RCA input and ...
    • Install the sub where you want it
    • Buy and run a single RCA cable from the head unit to the sub, ideally a pair of RCAs that come with a built-in amp turn on lead
    • Buy the amp wiring kit or run a fused 12awg power wire from the battery to the sub (you should be able to untape and squeeze it thru the factory wire grommet next to the brake booster), and install a 12awg ground wire to any bare-metal ground near the sub
That's really all there is too it. Way easier than a lot of the audio setups some of us maniacs choose to install

Hey man, if it works it works. Not the best, but again, very budget friendly. It has wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, you can’t go wrong with that, those are premium features on the big-name brands. At least you didn’t go with the no-name he posted, who do you get to support that after it breaks or fails? At least the ATOTO is branded, as is the PLZ, and you have someone to hold accountable if/when it fails. 100% likely it’s the same hardware and firmware underneath, frankly. Notice all the faceplates are the same across most of those units. Not a coincidence.

I still have my old, mint condition Alpine W650 that’s gently used I could part with for around the same price as ATOTO’s midrange buys, but it’s wired-only on the CarPlay/AA, which may not be appealing to most, it’s ultimately why I upgraded to the W770.

Getting ready to grill a fat ass London broil and prepped a chimi to go with it. Trouble is, this tequila is so damn good I have to figure out which grill, there's 3 out there when it used to be only 1PXL_20250731_235542029.MP.jpg f3339e92-714d-4def-9055-d076a5e0c360.jpg

I’ve never heard anyone say they hate the band Toto. Either they like them or they don’t care for them. That’s been my experience at least.

Edit: you were talking about the gay Patricks, not the best gen taco. Mine went straight to the scrap yard I took you to. Where Patricks belong. Got like $90 for the set back in 2013.

Well, newer driver put the first scrapes on the Tundra. She misjudged the distance to the outside wall of the garage and scraped the bumper against the bricks. No damage to the house other than pieces of black plastic embedded into some of the bricks. Luckily no major damage and the paint was already trashed from clearcoat weathering.

At least it was just something minor for her first incedent. Unlike my oldest that totaled our Honda Accord with 250k+ miles that we gave to her that she grew up in.
