I forget mines open sometimes when I park. Which is a gamble, because of how unpredictable and humid the weather is here on the south coast

 

Hmm... Two vs three raptor lights needs its own name. Reminds me of buck teeth. Perhaps SpongeBob lights?

 

Seriously? Dude. If you crack your front windows 1”, then pop the rear slider open a couple inches, it not only drops the wind noise by half, but also creates a really kickass blast of air up thru the center of the cab. I love it, I do this often. Not sure if it’s because I have a cap that it works but it’s damn awesome.

Screw all that, rope lights are what you need.

 

Use the amber running light switch as the power switch to a separate fuse and relay for the clearance lights. Problem solved.

Or just splice a bunch of LEDs into the corner light wiring and roll the dice haha.

Sometimes I think I should redo my 4 LED pods to be turned on by the fog switch with a fuse and relay, instead of hard wired into the two fog harnesses.

I can relate about the aging issue but be happy, I never met my maternal grandfather as he died some 10 years before I was born. I barely knew any of the other grandparents and two died before I was old enough to do anything for them. My paternal grandfather, although my dad brought me to visit his house nearly every weekend, I don't recall him ever telling me anything. No stories, nothing. I don't think he ever said more than one word to me. So be happy you are able to do these things for them.

Dad's "Big Red" Toro ZMaster Commerical.......ugh! I have a damaged spindle and will likely have to put it into the shop. Frankly I heard it make a different sound when cutting a big yard last Sunday but I had such tunnel vision I ignored it until I smelled smoke when nearly done and making a bunch of very short passes. It never stopped cutting perfectly. I took it home, dropped it off, and returned to the jobsite with a riding mower. The wife had by then finished that yard (we run two mowers at a time for the big yards) and we went on to another yard, where I used the riding mower, us finishing just as dark came on.

Upon inspection, one of the idler pulleys had lost its bearing and titled on the spindle, gouging it badly, and even turning a grove into the deck. I suspect those spindles are pressed in, but I'll clean the deck's underside and see. Local shop is backed up 3 weeks and it'll end up left outside. They did agree to cover it with a tarp if I supplied the tarp. SMH.

The belt was so tight, the idler adjust was all the way out (loose), and still the belt was insanely tight. I just took over operation and maintenance of this mower this spring, as it was dad's. A few years ago dad had priced a belt at the shop but refused to pay that price. I found him one on Scamazon before I realized the dangers of getting replacement parts from there. It is my belief that belt put so much stress on the pulley system, the stress caused the pulley to come apart, allowing this damage. That and me ignoring that sound.

We can get by without Big Red as we only us it for part of five yards but its absence will be felt at Crackheadia as the field I mow I only am able to visit (and get paid for) once a month. Hopefully Orange Blossom (the riding mower) can handle that tall grass. On the plus side, if Orange Blossom breaks down it's easy to push by hand if necessary.

 

I bent my blade on my TB 230 self propelled earlier this summer. I had hit an exposed root at a client's backyard but it still cut. It didn't throw the grass clippings that well into the bag but not enough for us to notice.

I was doing routine maintenance and was shocked at how bent it was! On the plus side, the new blade cuts so well, it nearly always fills the bag quickly. I just now bought yet another blade so I don't have to complete a sharpening in one day. I can rotate blades as we still depend on this mower for some part of nearly every yard done.

 

Creeper suffered LBBJ (lower ball bearing joint) failure. Big reds to the rescue so can get back to work.

Looking to get a powered sub for a little more boom. Does anyone have any experience with these from crutchfield? I can get the SL2 locally so they are all priced about the same.

Also so I don't have to ask in the future, do these normally go under the drivers side or pass side?

Go biggest that fits and most power from a reputable brand. On that list it would be the 8” JBL with 125w. Seems to be OOS at the moment. Maybe available elsewhere. Also consider the Kicker Hideaway that several members here have used.

 

Hmm yeah that seems logical. I may end up waiting a bit then and going with the kicker since that seems pretty popular around here.

 

One of those threads mentioned the height of the Memphis and JBL units may be a half inch taller than what is ideal, IIRC.

Note, if you have a power driver seat, your fitment results may differ from others. Power seat is able to drop the seat to a level that's at least half an inch lower than the manual driver seat.

 

Do you enjoy how everyone slows down once they see you pull out into traffic? LOL

 

I do have manual seats so hopefully have enough clearance. I'm pretty green to upgrading audio, is there any special adapter we need? or is it pretty plug and play for powered subs? I'm using a crux cs-tj20b with a cheapo aftermarket stereo that doesn't have any sub inputs.

 

With any aftermarket amp, you need to run a dedicated power wire to properly feed the amp, so it won't distort/clip/sound like ass. And it needs to be something heavier-gauge than any adjacent OEM wiring will offer, which is why you need the new power feed to come from the battery. The minimum wire gauge most amps (and even the amps on powered subs) will take is 14awg, where 12awg (for smaller amps) usually will work. A kit like this is what I'd recommend, it includes all you need. Can give tips on how to run the wire from the battery to under the seat if needed, with a wire this thin (comparitively, my amp wire is bigger around than your pointer finger) you've got a lot of options that don't involve running it up under the vehicle (which is a big no-no).

I just hit Crutchfield and looked up the manual for that Crux cs-tj20b. It appears it doesn't offer any kind of low-level RCA output. Which means, if your cheap stereo doesn't have any RCA outputs (outputs, not inputs), you'll need to use a line-level/line-out converter or "LOC" to send a signal to the sub, unless the subwoofer you choose accepts "line level input", then you can just run wires off one of the other speaker channels to feed the subwoofer.

Give me the model number of your current radio. Happy to see if there's another way, and describe how I'd personally tackle the situation.

 

Damn sounds like a lot of work and extra $. If there isn't really a feasible way outside of upgrading the HU I might just hold off. I did 'upgrade' the front speakers to PowerBass OE-700 so I do get some thump at least.

I don't even see a model number for it so here's a screenshot . Despite it being somewhat cheap it does check off a lot of boxes for me (knob, carplay, steering wheel controls, etc.).
