No doubt, a beautiful truck with great mods done to it; but those are mods he wanted- doesn’t mean the buyer does.

....and w/the amount of mods that have been completed on that vehicle adding stress to the entire driveline, if it does end up w/mechanical failure it will be an uphill fight to get them to honor the warranties, etc....

Oh, 100% you're effed on a warranty attempt.

It's a sweet build, but that's a risk the buyer takes when they play. That's part of why the mods do not maintain any value. It's an added obstacle for the second owner, and they didn't get to make the personalization to get there. It's just not going to have the same value.

Prime example: the bumper. I think it's hideous, so if I were buying it I would automatically be in the boat of going back to stock or finding a replacement. That's thousands of dollars in added cost because of the previous owner's mods. I sure as crap wouldn't be compensating him for his mods.

I have been looking at 2019 - 2021 Voodoo blue trucks for sale in my area. Anything that is heavily modded I skip. The provenance of the mods will always be a question mark. Were they done by professionals or half assed in a garage somewhere.

I want bone stock. What drives me nuts are the TRD Pros with aftermarket wheels, lift kits etc…

You could have literally done that to any trim but you did it to the one most people would prefer as it came from the factory.

Whatever this forum told me to do
    This.

I've done crap to my truck to make it liked by ME.

I'm quite sure nobody wants a very stock looking '20 1794 with 600hp.

There's no way I could get what I've put in it....and don't plan to.

I'll drive it till it blows up.

...and have you seen new truck prices? :bananadead:

I'll wait till the next Armageddon for prices to drop.

    wouldn't this mod be nice:

add the hybrid system to my truck

    and the 10speed trans.

    I bet I could avg 23mpg

    but nooooooo

communists won't let me have a new V8.

    AND

have ya'll heard GM is partnering up with Hyundai?

    GTFOH.

Eh, I will say there are two mods that can be done that actually DO add value.

A professionally installed Magnusson/TRD supercharger or adding leather to a trim that didn't already have it. They won't add the value that it cost to put them in, but they do increase it some.

Other than that, the only way you get more than what the truck cost new is if you build it out like a racer or long travel and it's done professionally. That is a really niche market, though.

I'm guessing we are going to see a giant merging of many auto manufacturers...

I still argue that if you de-badge the 3rd gen tundra and put it next to a GMC, they have so many angles and view that are nearly identical on the exterior....

It's the "global approach" to standarization of parts, etc...

Also, keep an eye on upcoming mergers of banks and credit card companies; there's a ton of them happening right now...

I believe Discover just got swallowed up by Chase or Capital One or something...

Many vendors stopped accepting Discover due to certain reporting and tracking 'issues'...

Whatever this forum told me to do
    truck mode tangent/gripe:

why put big tires on it?
and it not fit in the garage?

unless you are off-roading, what positive purpose does it serve?

it negatively impacts fuel usage, suspension parts, drivetrain longitivity, etc.

    same goes for lifts....why?

off set wheels?....fugetaboutit absolute idiocy on wheel bearings.

don't even get me started on oil based air filters.

It's parked in front of a gated community, has almost 50% of it's value in mods, and is being sold with less than 20K miles. Money doesn't enter this equation. Either he can afford it or he's okay borrowing to make it look like he can afford it.

It's like asking why you'd own a v12 Lambo when it gets god awful fuel economy. If you can afford the car you can afford it's upkeep.

Nah. I used to get migraines a lot because I carry all my stress in my neck and shoulders. Tension induced.

When I moved to the NOC those mostly went away. Yesterday around noon my left should and neck knotted up something fierce. Just a symptom of being over 40 is my guess.

His add says the truck has a Wifey air system. That’s one I haven’t heard of.

Only if it’s Voodoo blue. But seriously, outside of some trim pieces, what makes a TRD Pro a TRD Pro? The suspension and wheels.

If you are dumping the suspension and wheels it’s not a Pro anymore no matter what the grill and badges say. At that point just get an SR5 or Limited and make the changes.

For those wondering why I would prefer a stock Tundra, I keep my vehicles for a long time. If you are the sort that churns through vehicles every 3-4 years none of this matters.

Also, for the record, I want to make it clear that I’m not bashing the for sale ad on here. Just sharing my experience looking at used 2.5 Gen trucks.

With you only being interested in Voodoo it's going to be a hard hunt. Single model year Pro, and there'll be a large number that were modded.

I agree with you 100% though. I had no interest in changing those items on my Pro Taco. Defeats the purpose of buying the Pro, as you could get a lower trim make the mods and get the pro appearance parts (besides the stamped bed) for less than the Pro plus mod cost.

Would you consider a non pro in Voodoo?

The PRO is an appearance and performance package. All of the changes are what make it a PRO from the factory. Changing the suspension doesn't make it not a TRD PRO. Still has the body stamping, interior changes and PRO bits like the shifter handle. That's like saying it's not a Z71 if you take the lousy Ranchos off a chebby.

    Semantics.

If you change the wheels and suspension it is no longer a Pro from a performance aspect. It is then strictly an appearance thing.

Just get the cheap AutoZone filter and squirt some WD40 on it. BOOM! Instant oiled filter.

I will never ever run one as long as I live. I know there are people out there who have ran them for hundreds of thousands of miles and that's awesome, but the little tiny benefit you see for more air getting in the engine does not outweigh the downsides. If you watch project farm on YouTube testing a k&n filter it lets much more through than a traditional style. Plus a traditional style you don't have to worry about accidentally over oiling or cleaning it incorrectly You just pop it in and it does it's job.

Yeah I’m with you, stayin stock is nice. Small changes are what I like.

I do like the guy’s truck though. It’s hard not to admire the folks who have the enthusiasm to really get into a build. I’m just too old for that shit and I like my money. Too much water under the bridge.

I hear you. It's a solid build, but I don't understand building it and then selling it so soon. I did that with my 2019 (much milder "build") and I regret it to this day.
