    Hello all,
First post here and unfortunately can’t find any answers from a search.
When I turn my truck off and a second or so after shut down I get this sound like some sort of actuator or something closing quickly.
The noise sounds futuristic or space like…I know this sounds like I’m a nut or something.
I’ve had other trucks that would tend to have a high pitch tone go after the vehicle is turned off for like a minute or two but nothing like this.
Would anyone have any idea what this noise is…?
I wish I could describe it better but maybe there is “another nut” out there that has the answer..
    Thank you all!!!

It is most likely the air injection pumps cycling at shut down for a second or two. Totally normally. Early on, they had some issues with the valves in the AIP failing from moisture buildup; the fix was simply a software update that cycles the valves and flushes them with air when you turn the vehicle off, usually after getting the vehicle to operating temperature. My '13 received the update shortly after I purchased it new, so I noticed the noise immediately and and asked about it. It does sound a bit sci-fi Star Wars scooter-esque.

Air injection pumps. Common. Nothing to worry about.

Thank you Danman34! I appreciate the second opinion very much! When more than one person says the same thing…it’s even better. Appreciate your time!!

Don't even hear it anymore. I heard somewhere the TT sounds like a giant AC unit at startup, now I can't get it out of my head.

Put it in drive and slowly accelerate and you'll feel/hear it engage.

Ok. I’ll do that next trip. Gotta get used to the big truck again and all its quirks. My Tacoma never did any of this. Not that I noticed anyway. Appreciate the tip.

I had a '13 tacoma that did the air injection pump thing too. Not the ABS check.
