Dunes are easy, the sand is forgiving. Now AZ rocks, that shit is hard on suspension and tires

I go somewhat easy on speed bumps, humps on the other hand are open game to fly.

Funny how everybody except go-fast desert guys wanted to rip those out of their bronco's and replace them with a solid axle. Now they are coming back in to vogue.

Wouldn't waste my time on that. Maybe the Tacoma driver was eating an ice cream cone or something. :notsure: Remember, a lot of people outfit their vehicles to merely appear that they're going to drive like that, hence the whole mall crawler/street queen thing.

If it was a one off, I'd be like ok, he babies it, it's 80%. I just don't get it. Also, we have gates at the 2 entrances, damn thing is slow, I come up to it far left closest to where it opens so I can get out asap. I'd say 60% of these idiots go far right, yesterday I was behind one that literally moved right as they came up to it to extend the wait, then sat mid driveway at the fucking street making a left blocking the guy in front of me (and me) from going right. GAAAAAAA

In high school, we believed that the faster you went, the less of bump it was. Worked great in my bronco. Not so great in my friend's Escort.. Now the speed bumps at that school are about 3 feet tall. I wonder why. :monocle:

    1 word: walk.

In HS ('76-80) I was punished (long story) with a '76 Datsun B-210 Hatchback, we hung out up in the hills where there were burms, hills rocks & off road adventure landscapes. Guys with trucks went up the hills, the B-210 did too.

I also killed the differential doing neutral drops (while it was still my Mom's car), shop's only question was do you have a teenager?

    lol

    Transmission update:
On Friday afternoon was able to speak with John at IPT. We spoke for about 30 minutes concerning valve bodies from all vendors. On my issue you would think it's a solenoid in my case s3 or slt. He says most of the time it's not a solenoid but confused shift logic from clutch slippage or not holding line psi.
I have the IPT valve body so know that's good. He mentioned if I changed my filter/strainer which I did a few months ago. Asked if o-ring could be pinched. I have a few good spare solenoids. And decided to drop the pan. I drained the pan and immediately knew what was up. I got 9 qts out of the pan drain! Filter must have came off. Dropped the pan and there was the filter. I know I torqued those bolts double checked. But somehow all 4 came out. I pulled/cleaned tested the S3 and SLT solenoid. All good. Replaced all the solenoids and threw some blue locktite on the filter bolts and torqued.
I had 10 qts of Idemitsu TLS, type 4, that I wanted to re-try. It has a 7.3 viscosoity at 100deg C and 34.9 at 40deg C. Additives same as WS and patially synthetic.
Back on the road and no issues with firm shifts. Will still need a rebuild but in a bit...and not going to push it!
Edit: adapter idea for PML orBM pan. Double check BM check level port for clearance.

This is with the extra capacity pan that some of you all installed recently (sorry, the name escapes me at the moment)? I do remember some of the related discussion touched on fabbing up an extension of sorts to put the filter/pickup closer to the bottom of the pan, but I don't know if you, or anyone else came up with something.

Edit: PML, that was the pan, right?

Yes PML. The baffles actually kept it from falling completely out. Combined with doing and extra qt I was still able to get suction but not at speed. The distance to baffle and filter is about 3/4 of an inch. I sketched out a new piece. Will upload when I get home.
    The B M pan doesn't have baffles.

Good enough excuse for me to get a PML pan.. :spending:

Seriously, though, that's good news. I still need to get some pics of the RatioTek kit up. I was planning on getting it installed a few months ago before the blower blew up. I guess we all know how useful a plan is.

I have a question for the group regarding the trans fluid warming puck. The coolant that flows to that puck; is that a dedicated supply and return for just that purpose or do other devices count on the flow through the puck to function? I was wondering if it would be feasible to add a ball valve on each line going in and out of the puck. Close them for summer, open them for winter. I guess a bypass could always be made with additional tees and valves as well. Thoughts?

It's part of the same loop as the heater core at the firewall. We were recently discussing it in the TC thread since we already have to bypass the metal lines on that valve cover due to heat soak under prolonged boost. That said, it is the perfect opportunity to insert your own bypass loop exactly like the camper's H/W tank bypass circuit.

Oh, well that’s the last thing I want to stop the flow to in winter then! Although I guess it would be open in winter, but still not ideal. Thanks, I’ll have to check out the discussion in the TC thread.

Do you have a link? I don't ever need to warm up the transmission.

Also, anyone have an issue with HPT PRO cable not reporting? I have 2 Innovates, sporadically (like 80% of the time, the high bands don't popu;ate. It is really frustrating, I just sat in 125 degreee heat trying over & over to get a log with them in it before I said F it.

I have checked my wiring 100x & would think if one wasn't working all the time then that could be it but it is both either work or don't
