Has anybody replaced these? If so how complicated was it? Mine have faded down to chrome and look terrible so I was planning on replacing them but I can’t seem to fold anybody that has posted about swapping them out. Thanks.

Some people complain the screws are rusty and nasty. And @Professional Hand Model wisely put a butyl-backed piece od sealer over the plastic inserts those screw into, which is wise. I suspect the holes the plastic insert receivers use are one source of water entry into the a-pillarm which ends up in the fusebox and electrical connectors to the left of the e-brake pedal, which results in throttle control issues, and misc other gremlins.

I wouldn't just buy the trim. I'd buy new plastic inserts and new screws also, install the new plastic inserts, seal those in place with butyl, and install the new trim with the new screws.

Per Toyota's EPC, the plastic inserts are part# 9008018042 and the screws are 9016850076. I confirmed, these are the same p/n for all three cab types, and you'll need (8) of each (edit: 4 per side of each item, so 8 total screws and 8 total inserts/grommets, so 16 total pieces)

Man the price of these are crazy spendy for what they are… I’m debating just sanding down the flaking off black parts and re painting the chrome rather than spend $400. Has anybody done this ?

Do it and then report back. It cannot hurt.
I haven't examined those parts yet but it's on my list

Thanks for the part numbers on the clips. I gotta do both my AC and DC. Wish they weren't so dang expensive! New moldings definitely make a big difference cosmetically.

I mean, I hear you on the price and everything, but if you're hearing a high price you may be making the mistake of either talking directly to the dealer parts counter, or looking at Toyota's MSRP price. Neither one of those will give you the best deal. You can get that part at nearly 50% off MSRP direct from Toyota.

I just looked up mine in the Toyota Parts System, the part numbers for my AC which is a 2006 for DRIVER (left) and PASSENGER (right), I see the MSRP is $80/ea, but when I click through to my nearest dealer, their markdown bonus for using the Toyota Parts site for purchase is $55/side. If you were to wait until the next sale (should be in a few weeks, maybe Labor Day), you can probably get that down to $45 a side.

Shop smarter, not harder. People have this misconception "OEM is expensive!" it's because they're missing a huge opportunity for a painless discount, and just don't know any better.

Ya I did this. For some reason the trim pieces for the double cab jump to like $160 each plus shipping which made it $375. I pulled mine today and sanded them. Nothing wrong with them other than the black flaking off. I’ll post up the pics when I am finished.

Holy shit, yeah. I just looked up the part number (AC is my part number ending in 20, DC just changes the last two digits to 30). Indeed. MSRP of $228 and being sold for $157. WITAF?

    LH/driv: https://autoparts.serratoyota.com/products/product/moulding-windshield-755340c030
    RH/pass: https://autoparts.serratoyota.com/products/product/moulding-windshield-755330c030

I looked on Amayama. "This part is out of production".
I looked on Partsouq. Only $78 and $110* respectively:

    LH/driv: https://partsouq.com/en/search/all?q=755340c030
    RH/pass: https://partsouq.com/en/search/all?q=755330c030

Both sources sell authentic OEM. Shipping may be a little higher from Partsouq, they're based in UAE

Well shit. I guess this is another part I need to pre-order before OEM goes out of stock, eh? Next parts sale, I'm in.

I just bought my tundra… one thing I did not anticipate was parts going extinct…hope this is not an issue going forward.

A few things have been disco’d. A couple threads have popped up about it. The big ones are trim related. Some have alternative parts, legitimately comparable, which is nice. It’s a weird list so far. Color matched interior trim pieces are getting harder to find in new OEM. It’s a thing. They’re hitting the 20yr mark, OEMs can only make parts for so long…

Fun easy project that saved a lot of $. I pulled the trim and inspected my clips and screws. They were all in good condition. I sanded down the chrome with a heavier grit then smoothed it out with some 600. I re glued the lower trim piece and Alchohal prepped the entire thing. Then gave it multiple coats of bumper and trim paint.. reinstalled and looks great. Before and after pics are posted below.IMG_3742.jpg IMG_3740.jpg IMG_3722.jpg IMG_3723.jpg IMG_3741.jpg IMG_3722.jpg IMG_3723.jpg

Maybe I need to reconsider and just paint mine too.. It's way to much coin to justify doing both of my trucks. I've been holding off on these for awhile because of the cost, so now I'll just have to get it done! Recently did all my windows too.
    Your truck is looking good!

Did you paint your side mirror chrome caps or did you vinyl wrap? Any tips?
