I’m looking to get my bumper corners wrapped in MGM. I’ve found several threads with color options for the 1G3 color on other sites but am curious if anyone here has had good success and, if so, what brand of vinyl?

The local shop nearby, Atlanta Custom Wraps, is quoting $350 for the four corners if I bring the material. Or $350 plus material if they order it. That seems like it’s just expensive enough for me to try it on my own.

I know TCT Wraps offers pre-cut pieces, but I’d like to spend less than their markup if possible.

    Thanks!

Shop around. I got prices from 200 to 400. I haven’t done it yet. (The prices were material included.)

Depends on what they charge for material. If you saw my post in the color matched wrap thread I said if i had to do it again I would pay someone to do it. Way too much of a pia if you're a perfectionist.

Edit, I just checked TCT wraps I would go that route and have a professional install it. thats cheap

Looks great. I’ve gotten two quotes now of $350 and $450. What did yours run you? And, what materials did you use?

Where in the Atl area are you at? I'm in Covington area. I've been looking at doing the same thing...just haven't found a roll of vinyl wrap that matches the MGM.

Did you supply the wrap or the shop that did the work? How's the color match?
If you bought it, please provide link.

Color match is really close, the vinyl might be a shade lighter. However, I'm really picky and a few of my friends said they couldn't really tell a difference.

I have read too many bad things about getting wraps. I got my painted by a local body shop and they did an AMAZING job. It was a little more than vinyl wrap but really not that much. SO happy I made just choice to get them painted. They matched my MGM perfectly!

That was my original plan, it the couple
of shops I spoke to said that painting the stock chrome was not a good idea...

I read that painting chrome was not a good idea but after talking it over with the body shop here - they had no doubt that painting over the bumper caps was the best way to go. They told me that they have a special process of doing it. In fact, the owner told me he paints chrome bumpers for several dealerships in town and had no issues painting over chrome. I realize they may have just been trying to get my business but after seeing it in person that their paint matched perfectly I was VERY happy with my decision. I guess it all depends on what you feel comfortable with. But I did not want to order wrap that MAY match my color and then find someone that could wrap it in a way I would be happy with.

Painting over chrome an looking good is one thing painting over chrome and it not peeling or chipping off in a few months or years is another thing.
The only way I would've went with painting is if the chemically stripped the chrome.
I am sure some people paint chrome and it lasts and never have problems but for me the no guarantee of it lasting wasn't a chance I was willing to pay for.

With the low cost of Vinyl wrap why not go that route and do it yourself.

Just to update, found a local shop that quoted $200 to wrap bumper ends if I brought the material. I went ahead and ordered the following from US Cutters.

    http://www.uscutter.com/Oracal-951-...t-Continuous?gclid=CNLG05eZttECFQxYDQodXkcEDQ

I ordered color 932, graphite metallic. That is supposed to be a great match to the MGM. I’ll post up pics once received. Although, at this point I’m not sure anything matches the factory MGM closely. The MGM bulge I bought is almost a completely different color.

No way. No one wants to paint chrome and all quotes have been close to $1k.

That does look good. Another member used the metallic and it looks good, too. I’ve already ordered- if it’s not right, I guess I’ll reorder.

get the hell out of here! I got both of my tacoma's bumpers and grill surround color matched for $300. hell you can get the whole damn truck painted for a grand unless you're going to a primo shop that only paints hot rods.

just sounds like y'all are looking in the wrong places. find a buddy with a compressor, or hell buy one, and a decent gun then get to shooting.

How does the vinyl hold up? Thinking of covering my chrome ends with flat black but worried vinyl may not hold up?

I don’t know.... but it’s much cheaper than powder coat. I’d like to wrap my ends but just wondered how it did, car washes, rocks kicked up etc....
