Does anyone make bumpers that are "thinner" than the stock, to shorten overall lenght?

Does anyone make metal bumpers (front, back or both) that would help reduce the overall lenght of the truck, by maybe 2-3" total? My boss is looking for an option that would help him park in his garage without cutting into his load bearing house wall. I checked a few sites but most just show the weight - I haven't seen anything that answered my question.

Before you go all gang ho on "he should have measured before he bought", he did, and he knew it wouldn't fit - we are just looking at possibilities.

Not much bumper to start with on the new models. Rear bumper has side molding that is part of the body, so would have to be a complete replacement. Not sure any of the aftermarket off-road bumpers are 2-3” thinner

Not a whole lot up front to remove/thin, and in the rear if he goes aftermarket it's going to lose BSM if equipped. Even then, most bumpers keep the little ledge as a step when the tailgate is up.

Maybe C4 which is a complete replacement steel bumper.

Might be able to mod the garage wirh a commercial roll up overhead door/trim pkg applied to the outside or face of the garage wall instead. More overhead clearance too.

As mentioned there isn't much wiggle room without re designing front and back.
But the rear would look pretty sweet with an old school roll pan.
    Just saying :D

It really sucks for him.. only reason he is in a new Tundra is because his 2020 got stolen from the driveway. He wants to garage this one, but it seems he'll have to do some wall cutting.

Perfect chance to build the garage out a few more feet. More garage space is always needed.

Depends on the wall's construction of course, but slapping in an 8ft beam to gain a few inches would be the easiest option.

Think my garage is pretty standard. This was my solution. I’ve had the truck for 2 years and have never attempted to fit it in till I washed waxed and claybarred my truck and was determined to. Put a yoga mat on my wall and I touch it when parked

There are ways to get creative and protect against theft aside from a garage which btw does nothing when away from home. Think truck itself and how to harden the target.

Can I assume you have a standard garage door on tracks inside the frame? What about swing out doors or some other version mounted to the outside of the frame? You could gain +/- 6"

Agree, move the door rather than the wall. Push the door out 3 feet and have space for cabinets still with truck in there too.

That is what I told him - put a beam and extra 2x4 or 2x6 on the edges and frame a cutout, but he's worried about insulation.

We park our Tundra in a similar manner - we have a lot more room but my wife doesn't want to remove the hitch and with the hitch on, the truck fits with maybe 3" to spare.

I doubt that he wants a major, multi-thousand dollar project like that...

Yeah, depends on how it's built. Need to do some investigating. If it's a 2x6 wall and you need just 3" you could do some foamboard to get some insulation value back. And insulate the garage better.

He should get a good carpenter to look at it.

He could sort of "forget" to open the door while backing out in his wife's car and then correct the issue:thumbsup:

Changing the door itself shouldn't be a major multi thousand-dollar adventure. It's just the door. Changing bumpers on a truck that requires butchering body panels to do so can be a multi thousand-dollar project. Ask me how I know.
