Wonder if anyone else has had this issue? Trying to diagnose it, I'm thinking it's on my camper/trailer side and not truck but not 100% certain.

The errors pop-up and go away within 10-15 seconds and could be good for 30-40min drive then comes back and goes away again within seconds. Super random and cannot really can't pinpoint what co éditions trigger the issue and what it could really be.

I did pull my camper in a logging road that was pretty rough, and it was after that I started having these issues.

My guess is it's a connection/wiring issue with the trailer. Supposedly these trucks automatically turn off the rear collision detection (same as the car backing into the cone button) but it's been my experience that doesn't always work. In other words, without the car backing into the cone button turned on, I can back my boat down the ramp two or three times without issue, then the next time, the brakes will slam on. Anyway, the reason I say it could be a connection/wiring issue is that it comes and goes. I would check the connections on your trailer's 7 pin connector to make sure everything is clean and tight. Also check to make sure the ground is good as bad grounds on trailers can bring out all sorts of gremlins.

    Lots of stuff!
I would start with dielectric grease on the 7 pin connector and check for anything loose in the path of the 7 pin connector.

    And like @DRP says!

Thanks, also leaning towards the trailer being the culprit here.

I thought it was the Pre-Collision system in the front, but could be the rear as well, didn't think of that one!
Thanks, the connection seems solid and I do have dielectric grease in there, but may be the ground, or the battery.

I'll check the wiring and go from there.

Hi @jproy12. Did you ever resolve or figure out what the issue was? I just experienced this the other day while towing my travel trailer with my Toyota Tundra 2019 TRD Crewmax 5.7L. I noticed the Tundra was working hard towing the travel trailer (29ft) which I have done multiple times over the past 4-5 years (same route) and tow the weight, well below max tow weight limits. I noticed while towing (most of drive through and hills) that the RPMs stayed between 2.5 - over 3 and struggled while towing. When I tow, I always have the Tow Haul on and utilize the trailer brake system when braking (especially when engaging hills) before I use the truck brakes. For what it's worth, I just had my the front brake pads and rotors replaced the night before the drive but I do not think the truck brakes are a factor here. Anyway, a few miles away from our destination, the Pre-Collision System Unavailable - Trailer Wiring, Type or Connection fault error light came on. I pulled over and a person riding their bike stopped and mentioned that they smelled brakes burning. I assumed this was due to having the front brake pads and rotors replaced the day before but cannot rule out if the smell was related to the trailer brakes. The bike rider offered some anti-corrosion spray to spray the 7-pin connection plug in case, corrosion was causing the error light to come on. I sprayed the 7-pin connector and allowed to dry before plugging back in. I started driving again but the error light came on when turning but did not come on after that for the remaining 2 miles to our campsite. We have been camped since and have not towed the trailer as of yet. Did you figure out the cause? I am hoping it is a simple fix or the issue resolved itself. I contacted our RV repair shop and the tech mentioned that the tow drag/high RPMs could be due to the trailer brakes and axis/axle system needing to be replaced or repaired. Anyway, any updates and thanks for your time.
