    Good morning from Florida!
23 tundra and liked the remote connect feature when it was purchased. After the subscription expired (a year ago), I’ve been trying to get it back. It’s not offered through the app as a single purchase. The dealer and Toyota say I can get it and it’s not expensive, they just are always having trouble and can’t help me at that moment. They say I can re-up it by itself. Like $8 a month. Not with the nav system or music system.

    Anyone have this experience?
Can I actually get this or just forget about it?

    Thx all
    Have a great day!!

I’m still in the free trial period, but when I look in the app, I just see the different “plans” that all bundle drive connect. I don’t see any value in drive connect. I think I recall previously seeing an option for only remote connect.

It’s like Toyota is extracting “value” for a weak service that they sunk development costs into.

These Toyota "connect" package prices are absurd.

    https://www.toyota.com/connected-services/connected-services-plans/

They are charging more than Audi and Mercedes in some cases, and they aren't at that level. I have drone mobile in my other vehicle, and it was 300/5yrs. And for 5/month I get all the remote features. lock, unlock, start, gps traciking, temp, etc... No way am I gonna hand toyota $15/month. I'll be looking into a similar option for my Tundra as well. And as a bonus, I don't have to worry about toyota "sharing" all my data with insurance companies as a "benefit"

Anyone else with a '25 that turned off the tracking/trial/etc and gotten the screaming message every time you start the truck that the on board communications module cannot connect?

When I got my '25 I opted out of all the tracking/emergency call/etc (before realizing that I had to opt in to get the remote start), and when it processed the request turned off the green light on the overhead button (same behavior as my '21 Tundra and '21 Tacoma when I opted out of Toyota's data tracking); however, each time you key-on in my '25 it yells a warning from the passenger front speakers about the module "not being able to connect, please make sure you are in an area with cellular service, if you are please contact your local dealer". Every. Single. Time.

Have your dealer put this on their “To do” list.

The remote start feature is basically useless. It annoys me so much that it turns off that I don't ever end up using it.

Instead, to get the AC started in the truck, I walk out into the insane Florida heat, open the driver's door with the key in my pocket, and reach into the truck to hold down the brake pedal with the left hand and press the start button with the right. I'm actually less annoyed by this than restarting the truck.

I have a '24 and used the free trials until they expired and then "opted out" of all data tracking services. I get no warnings about not being able to connect.

The touchscreen with Audio/Nav and it's related data services and software are very poorly implemented by Toyota. I did have the annoying "Enter your PIN" interruption once when Navigating using Toyota App, it would interrupt the navigation every 5 minutes with "Enter you PIN". I didn't ever set up a PIN so I couldn't ever satisfy the prompt. What is the PIN for? I never found out.

If it were not for CarPlay it would really suck. For the most part CarPlay works great but it does glitch every once in a while. It's too bad CarPlay can't control the Truck Audio (AM/FM/USB stick).

I’ve never understood why this is such a big issue. I get that it’s less than ideal, but how long do you want to keep your truck running? If it shuts off because you got distracted with other things, just start it again. I know, then it shift off when you open the door. If im getting in the truck anyway, I just press the start button like normal. I just don't think it’s as big an issue as people make it out to be. It’s certainly not useless.

Not a big deal, just impossibly annoying. It works, but it is so annoying that I don't use it; therefore, to me it is basically useless like I said.

I get it. One of the reasons I traded the 4Runner is the “keyless” fob only locked/unlocked the door about 70% of the time on the first try. That 30% doesn’t sound like much, but often I ended up fumbling for the fob to manually unlock or lock. It’s not the only complaint, but it was definitely a consideration.

Are you talking remote start with your FOB, of with the app?

If you just want the FOB remote start, you need to activate Safety Connect and Service Connect. They are both free for 10 years. You also have to agree to the Master Data Consent, but none of the other data collection consents.

You do not have to pay for any subscriptions for FOB remote start. If you want remote start thru the app, you need to pay for one of the subscriptions that includes Remote Connect.

    Hope this helps.

Let me guess, you need the "Toyota App" to do this...

Yeah, that's working pretty awesome right now too..

It’s all done in the Toyota app.

The app is working fine for me right now.

Lucky you, it isn't working in Tampa, FL for over an hour now. Tried WiFi and cellular data.

Sorry for your troubles. Perhaps reloading the app will help? Beyond that, dunno.

    Good luck.

So I have a question for everyone on this same topic of the subscription plan. I have a 23 and of course I let the plan expire a while back. The problem I have is now my screen says I’m a guest in my own truck and won’t let me set up a profile . Originally it had my name and information but now it says just guest with now way of setting up a profile unless I add the service. When my son’s were driving the truck they added their phones and now it always picks up their phones before mine? How can I get my phone to come back as primary and the profile to return? Do I have to add connected services for it to have my profile again?

Also / FYI, on an iPhone, if you press and hold the Toyota app, a shortcut list pops up for quick commands.
