If you use something other than Toyota, what do you use?

    For the differentials:
The manual specifies LT 75W-85 GL-5 for my 2013 Tundra 4.6L DW 4WD.

I saw a video and he was using Red Line. I like Red Line.

    For the transfer case:
The manual specifies SAE 75W-90 GL-4 or GL-5

    Redline has this:
    https://a.co/d/3KfQBaK

And another video I saw the guy was using Ravenol with a handy tube dispenser built in:
    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00QL31M3O

    But interested in other opinions.

    Thanks!

Used ravenol for a while, then switch some 10s of thousands of miles ago to Valvoline. It comes in squeezy packs so it's easy to fill. Truck hasn't blown up yet.

Lots of good options for quality synthetics oils. IME, changing the fluid regularly is as important - or more-so - than what type of fluid you use. I had a limited slip installed at a friend’s shop earlier this year at 220k, replacing a worn out Auburn with 140k miles on it but still setup with original bearings. My friend let me inspect all the parts with him as we tore it down; he laughed at how good everything looked for such high miles with how much towing and hauling I do. He said it looked like it had maybe 50k miles on it, and attributed that 100% to regular fluid changes every 30k miles (or less).

I used Mobil 1 for the first 80k miles, Castrol and Valvoline Dino oils for a while (per Auburns requirements), more Mobil 1, High Performance Lubricants Diff Life, Amsoil, and finally Mobil Delvac after some break in miles with the Speedmaster limited slip. All have been 75w90 except the Dino oil that was 80w90 in the rear diff. All have protected well as expected. I have some Redline to go in the ‘21 since the transfer case changed in 2014 and calls for a straight 75w, though the dealership uses 75w90 unless it’s a warranty job.

    Thank you!
So if my diffs call for 75W-85, can I use 75w90 no problem?

It's probably skunk scent which is highly lubricative.

I used 75-90 synthetic in the differentials and transfer case. I have no problem with it at all. Also my Toyota dealer doesn’t even stock 75w.

Absolutely. 75w85 options are very limited; the Redline product you listed above is what’s going in my ‘21 but that’s just for fun. 75w90 is perfectly acceptable, more readily available, and cheaper.

That’s what I used….definitely more cost effective than the alternatives.
