    Hello Brothers,
I pulled out the lens on my 3rd brake light.
Both of the cargo lights have melted the plastic.
I’m needing a new lens kit. Several companies sell aftermarket
lights. Has anyone bought new Toyota, or some other brand?

Clean up the crusty burnt plastic inside and then install some Aluminum Tape (HVAC) from big box. Next step is buy some Zevo Sylvanias at autozoned. Total cost about $40 and you get the feeling of saving the planet by reusing your shtuff.

I installed a brand new OEM high mount because mine was melted also. It's on my build thread I think. Cost was about $110 when I bought it. I can't find the part number currently, but they are all the same IIRC.

Others have installed aftermarket, and had water leak problems.

Does the seal come apart when you pull the lense?

I finally got around to ordering some diode dynamics to go in there. I just gotta pull the camper top since it’s that time of year

I got the light smoked lens from Klearz. They also have clear and dark smoked.

The red/white lens seal. No, not normally. It may come out with the lens but you can just put it back in the seal groove.

The actual light housing seal does get destroyed when you pull the whole assembly out.

I bought a new seal and a Amazon chee-zee light fixture. Will see where this goes.
Good thing is new seal is only sticky on one side.

It should be sticky on both sides to provide a "seal" from the light, and cab.

Which Bulb Style should I buy for this application?

    UPDATE:
I plugged this in and it worked great. Went for a ride to Walmart.
Got home and grabbed my broomstick. I wanted to see it when really dark.

there are 13 brake LED light bulbs, the center 3 are now burned out.
So much for a good deal, hello Amazon returns

Here is the led version. Available on Amazon.BA34B7DF-ED91-41F6-A41B-1C63FF280EB5.jpg

it’s a little bit too “Chromey” to me. I might spray the perimeter black to tone it down. I’m sure the cargo light will be much brighter. Also the Third brake light
Should be brighter. That’s never a bad thing.

I would highly doubt it. Their high mount stop light has no need in bed "cargo lights" without a bed..........

    Ok,
Got the chrome one on the way back to Amazon. I bought a smoked version of the LED
third light. If you have the Phantom Grey color, this is the bomb. Color looks great,
The LED lights are bright. Both the cargo lights and red stop lights are effective.

I bought the smoked lens assembly at Amazon. I would recommend it.

I have the original factory lens . For 10 dollars it’s for sale.

My brake light is burnt out so I thought I’d do the cargo lights too because they’ve been burnt out since I bought it. Unfortunately the plastic is completely melted on the two sides that house the cargo lights. I can’t get the bulbs out. It’s a bit recessed so hard to get your fingers in there, and they’re glass so I don’t want to break them in my hands so I don’t want to squeeze harder. Is there a trick?

Any advice? Am I hosed? Do I need a new housing?

This is the best thread I could find.

I had to use long needle nose pliers. Broke the glass. Pulled out the base. Get new bulbs first

I picked this up about a week ago, I didn't feel it was worth trying to rehab the 20 year old plastic.

Edit: I have noticed the cargo light is nice and bright but it doesn't shoot towards the bed, it's almost shooting straight back which defeats the cargo lights purpose

Was just about to order that but it sounds like it doesn't work for purpose.

    Any other options found?

There seem to be only two aftermarket led styles marketed heavily. This one and the cheaper one up in the thread that seems to have less bulbs and also gets bad reviews with failing bulbs.

Link to this please? Does it illuminate the bed in the dark?

There really isn't many options. My OEM unit was so yellow, faded and dried out that the light wasn't doing shit. I'll take a better look at how much light hits the bed tonight but from what I saw on day 1 it was almost non-existent. But at least it looks better than the crusty one :D

I bought a replacement lens for my Access Cab. It was $14 for a brand new replacement OEM lens part direct from Toyota. My 2006 used the following parts:

81570-0C010 => 3rd brake light complete assembly, including new foam gasket (But the part is $$$ so should be bought during a national sale!)
81572-0C010 => 3rd brake light RUBBER lens gasket (This seals the outer lens to the inner light assembly, it is NOT the foam gasket to seal the light assembly to the cab!)
81571-0C010 => 3rd brake light lens cover (Lens cover only, this is what you'd need)
Of course, check compatibility before pulling the trigger on a part number I'm giving. And note: You CANNOT buy a replacement foam gasket from Toyota, the only way to get one is to order online - you can buy cheap replacement on scAmazon, and note: aftermarket replacement 3rd brake lights are notorious for leaking water into the cab!!

I looked it up, and it looks like the lens' MSRP is almost $29, but my local dealer has it on pickup for $18.52, and that's not even from the cheapest participating dealer near me, so it's probably a good comparison.
