Anyone else have one? I previously had security cams, a small dog who yaps at anything even on the sidewalk, and my pew pews. Since I camp/hunt a lot and go on multi-day fishing trips, wife wanted something when she's home alone since our kids are older and we're close to being empty nesters....despite the fact that we live at the end of a long (15 house deep) culdesac with LEO and other awesome neighbors surrounding us.

We opted for motion, door and window break sensors, and sensors on all of our water valves. If more than a couple drops hit a sensor, we get notified. This added feature lowers our homeowners insurance, not quite enough to offset cost but this was more worth it to me than home security.

I previously had three front cameras (front porch, two driveway) and an inside camera. Had an additional doorbell camera and one for the backyard installed also.

Just curious if anyone has had issues with response times or other issues with ADT. Thanks

I realize this is an old post, but thought i would respond as I just saw it. We have used ADT for the past 4 years and had no issues. There were a couple times the alarm was triggered by accident, and they call, text, and email almost instantly. I have been pretty impressed. Cost, now that's another story.

OP may have already done all of this but if not......

Security systems are literally "icing on the cake." Focus on making your house a hard target.

Make it easy to see all the way around it. Light up the outside. Make the doors hard-to-kick in. Bars on windows.

Make friends with the neighbors. Major plus if you have that elderly semi Karen neighbor that watches everything that happens, isn't afraid to get involved, and cares about you.

Then you can get the cameras (which record crimes, not stop them), alarms, etc.

    Too many, but not enough....
I've had adt for years and been very happy. I have window and door sensors, motion sensors, glass break, smoke detectors and they all work great. The app and controls are awesome and easy to use. They respond within 30 seconds if alarm is tripped. You have to give your verbal code when they call and they have a secret hostage code that will shut the system off but dispatch police without showing anything on the panel.

AAA even gives a nice discount for it for home insurance which easily pays for the 38 bucks a month monitoring fee. I can't imagine not having the system.

This is sort of funny. I actually do have two elderly neighbors who watch everything...and one is actually named Karen! Yeah, ours is already a hard target, but we're not doing bars on the windows. Not that type of neighborhood. Sort of a nice, middle to upper middle class suburb in Los Angeles, larger homes, etc. I have lights, motion lights, cameras everywhere and I'm very close with all my neighbors. Pew pews stay locked unless I'm home, then one is in a stop box or on me (CCW). As far as cameras not stopping crimes, I believe they are also a deterrent. I have one large HIK cam on the front of the house, looks like a piece of 4x4 measuring 12" long sticking off the eve of our house to the entire front and driveway. It's basically there to watch my Tundra, along with a Ring camera that's on the other side of the house. You can't come near my house without being caught by at least one of four front cameras. I was just wondering about ADT response times when things happen. So far, no false alarms except the water sensors when housekeeper got it wet. Otherwise, so far so good.

    Alot of them
I dumped ADT about a year ago. They were constantly calling and saying that my alarm was going off and which sensor it was. I was in the house watching TV every single time they called. I even told them that the last time the alarm was even set was 2 years earlier. Paying for service was pointless so I got rid of it.

"Cameras are a deterrent." Tell me there "aren't many crackheads around while not telling me 'there aren't many crackheads around.'" LOL

Not really in my neighborhood, but we do have our fair share of porch pirates and solicitors. And I also live on a candy cane lane, so the occasional kids coming thru at 2 a.m. to mess with xmas decorations is always fun to watch on video and share with LEO and local news
