    Hi,

    I have a 2013 Tundra 4.6L DC 4WD.

Do I have a front differential and also a transfer case?

I've never owned anything with either of these so just wondering what I have and what maintenance I need to do on them.

    I have 121k miles.

    Thanks!

Howdy, your truck in fact has a front and rear differential and a transfer case that all need fluid replacement at some point. If you don't know if/when its been performed, I would 100% do a full fluid change ASAP.

It's also recommended that you occasionally engage and drive a bit in 4WD to keep things from freezing up.

Don't do it on dry pavement. (Technically you can if driving perfectly straight, but it's easier and more fun to go find some dirt to play in)

How many of those 121K miles are yours? If you bought it used, do you have previous owner's maintenance records? Might show if diff(s) & transfer case have ever been serviced.

Thanks, yes, I have used 4WD low and high. That makes sense to use it in dirt or a straight line.

I think it had 118k on it when I got it, and I have no idea what was done before, no records.

That's why I'm just doing everything.

    Thanks!

Good plan! You've come to the right place, there's some pretty smart cookies on here.

Yeah, you never want to do any tight turns on pavement in 4WD, things can bind up. The inside & outside wheels travel different distances in a turn, so one of 'em needs to be able to slip a little when you're in 4WD

I have felt that on the pavement and now I know not to do it anymore! Thanks
