    Morning/Afternoon everyone,

I have been considering a newer Tundra myself, but my father has a 2008 Tundra TRD here in Newfoundland (Im visiting from Alabama) and he more or less bought it without consulting me and got a little bit screwed on it. Bed pan was rusted out, has replaced the starter, alternator, battery, clock spring, wheel bearings, different bearings and more all in the first 2 months.

No big deal, but there are a couple of issues I am trying to run down for him, and I have searched but havent come up with the exact situation, or just need to see if the experts have seen it before.

Note that this does have an aftermarket brake controller, seems like an alarm, and the horn didnt work (assume clockspring issue) and had a button rigged up for that.

    1. The doors will not lock or unlock with the remote or buttons unless the key is in and turned to the on position. From research, that is an ECU-B1 issue? Everything works when the key is in and turned on, so I checked the ECU-B1 fuse (7.5A) and it is good. My assumption now is that it would be the ECU itself? Are there any other checks I should do? I am fairly competent in diagnosing and repairing, but havent found a particular thread that can lead me to the place I need to check.

    2. The small backup screen (looks like maybe 2.5" x 3") that flips down from just behind the rearview mirror has gone out. I am not sure if this is factory or not, and is it able to be replaced?

I think those are the only two issues outstanding right now that we havent solved. Any help would be great, and thanks for the welcome to the forumn!

    Doug

Cool! Look for my avatar in the back window of a '20 silver 1794 with a Diamondback tonneau. Wave if you see me!
