I’m in the same boat, always owned GMs and honestly loved every single one. I still have old faithful, a 96 z71 I daily drive to work everyday. But just got my first tundra and I love it also, this tundra will decide what I get in a few years when it’s time to trade it in!!

I'm running an 05 avalanche z71 full load right now. It's a great truck but it's starting to nickel and dime me to death.

    So been looking to upgrade

Welcome from Texas! You won't regret your decision! I have owned a Silverado and Ford Expedition and LOVE my Tundy SO MUCH MORE than either of those. In fact I down right HATE Ford's after my experience with my Expedition.

Color choice? You gotta share pics when you get it!!

Was always a Chevy guy for full sized trucks. My 97 z71 was great. Went through a lot of fuel pumps though.
2015 Silverado convinced me Chevy is now crap.
Love my tundra, made in USA.

Yeah GMS have gone down hill.

Most of my buddies at work drive GMS and the story's I've heard from them scare me.

One guy has a 6 year old z71.
In 6 years he's had the engine replaced under warranty. 4wd has broken on it like 4 times. He keeps breaking leafs to and he only tows a 5k boat and trailer.

Another guy broke leafs and a transmission on his 5 year old truck.

My step father as a '12 sierra, he's has like 25 warranty trips to the dealer. His last track was a 09 Sierra which was a lemon and was traded into the dealer after several warranty issues.

I could go on and on about guys I know with new or newer GMS that are having issues.

    It's sad.

Toyota is my first pick all the way.

I work with a guy who has a 07 tindra he bought new in 07. It's got the supercharger and like 250k miles. He said he put a water pump on it a 200k miles and that's it.

Another guy I know has 200k miles on his 09 limited and he's done brakes once.

    Hard to argue with that.

Welcome, I’ve always been surrounded by GM and Chevy guys and thought broken shit was just what you had to deal with if you owned/used a full size truck. My dad switched to Tundras years ago and I recently decided to follow suit. I am very happy with my decision and I have a few friends who are pretty jealous (and may make the switch sometime soon)!

I doubt that SC was on that truck for 250k without any issues.

150k+ miles, I still call bs. More than not, I have seen more people have issues well within 80k miles. @Sean266

Welcome. One thing you will find on this Tundra forum, and any other Tundra forum, are happy owners. I traded in my 06 GMC Sierra that I bought new for my first Tundra in 2015. I’m now on my second Tundra. Couldn’t be happier.

I've made a point of talking to all the guys I see on the jobsites at work who own tundras
I've yet to meet an unhappy owner.

It just seems like the tundra is an amazing truck.

It is the best half ton to buy. I wouldn’t buy a Chevy or GMC 1/2 ton. To many issues.

Yeah I agree with too many issues. The worst Chevy I've had was a 2000 z71 lt.

It's was a super nice truck, full load and lower miles. With 100,000 miles one day my transmission started to slip so I replaced that. Abut a month later, the transfercase got the typical gm pump rub so I again replaced that..

Them about 6 months later my wife was driving down the highway when the engine suddenly lost oil pressure and seized. 5.3l ls motors are known for random oil pressure loss.

    Then there's the electrical issues.

My avalanche has been a good gm but it's still had its fair share of problems.

The first owner took very good care of it and I'm no different. I do servicing by the book.

Oh well that's gms, I thought this was normal for all vehicles.
