    Recent hymenoptra adventures.

I mix a pump sprayer with dawn soap and water. Heavy on the soap. Like a 1/2 - 1 cup per gallon or so. Blue. Knocks em down and incapacitates them in 10 seconds or so. Dead.

Not too long ago on this thread, we were talking about fixing things ourselves instead of always having to pay someone else. I wanted to share a couple of videos that probably saved me $300 plus the time and effort installing a new microwave. In 2016, our Kenmore over-the-range microwave flat out died. I pulled it apart, troubleshot it, but couldn't figure out the problem. That microwave was in the house when I bought it and had probably been in service since the house was built in the 1990s. I've had good experiences with Kenmore, so I bought a new one and installed it.

Earlier this year, the "new" microwave started tripping the breaker. After a little research, I discovered this video

and used the suggested solution. It worked and we got 3 more months out of it with no issues! (Spoiler: The solution has to do with the 3 interlock switches in the door latch bar and the wear and tear on the latch bar itself.)

Earlier this month, the microwave started running (light, fan, carousel) but not providing any heat. I could tell by the sound that the magnetron was not energizing. During the previous troubleshooting process, I had purchased a new door latch bar, but chose not to install it because the easier fix worked. I hoped this new behavior might be related to further deterioration of the door latch bar and it was. I followed the instructions in this (longer and more tedious) video

I removed the door latch bar. One by one, I pulled each of the 3 interlock switches from the old latch bar, tested them with a multi-meter for correct function, and then installed them in the new latch bar. Then I reinstalled the latch bar and reassembled the microwave. Once again, this fixed the problem! We have been using the microwave for several weeks now with no issues. The new latch bar cost $38.00.

So, if your microwave goes on the fritz with the symptoms I described above, perhaps one of these solutions will save you some cash. And that's cash you can be spending on your Gen1 Tundra! :)

EDIT: To be clear, this is what I'm calling the door latch bar.

Thanks for the pro tips. My parent’s radar range just quit working (no heat) last week. They already bought a new one, but i might take apart the old one to see if i can make something happen…

I am considering an airbag system for my rear leaf springs. Are there any issues with having a heavier leaf spring that causes the bags to be elongated when unloaded? Looking to have a heavy load in the bed and also the hitch when going to hunt Idaho.. Concerned about the daily.

Curious to see what mpg turns out to be.
200 miles on half tank. Better than I expected so far.
Lot of uphill pulls, and running the air conditioner full blast. Plus driving around a small town.

@shifty` was it you saying if you window is partially down and you shut door the glass rattles?
I remember someone saying couldn’t figure it out.
Mine was doing it and I found the problem when I replaced my door handle.
The rear portion of window glass was out of the track causing it to bump every time door was closed.
I pressed it back into the track, was still plenty of good window sealant/glue to hold it, when doing the track lube.
No more rattle, clang when shutting door with window down.

Depends on what smells you’re fighting. I just threw these under the seats and it helped. Also used a natural odor eliminator. Trying to be conscious of chemicals with the little one in the back.

I’ve cleaned the carpets, the air ducts, the AC coil etc. keep the seats wiped down with leather conditioner. Smells pretty good in mine. Carpet, headliner, cloth seats would be odor sponges.

I use leather seat conditioner in mine, and it smells fairly good.
If you’re fighting a musty smell I’d be checking for leaks.

I notice a slight odor for a few seconds when the AC kicks on. It goes away quickly. You've seen how clean my interior is so it's not a dirt issue. Just smells like an old vehicle.

@The Black Mamba hooked me up with some AC vent cleaning deal a while ago. That helped tremendously. Completely forgot about it. Probably going to order some more once he posts what it is.
