What would be the best and worst things about living in Central or Northern Arizona? Say Flagstaff. We really enjoyed visiting so I'm curious what it's like to actually live there. It's one of the only areas I would consider moving to based on our limited time visiting.

its terrible man, just awful, like jumping in a pool with your close on, lol

If I worked out in the field still or something maybe I would care more, so this is great to me.

I have to work on the wall and pool so that will take some time

Flagstaff, snow and cold. It's 7000ft elevation. And fairly pricey, too. Beautiful summers.

Prescott is probably the most well rounded, weather wise. 5300ft elevation or something close. Not as expensive as Flagstaff, for the most part.

Cottonwood/ Clarkdale/Verde Valley/Sedona area is really growing. The Cottonwood downtown is getting super cool. Sits at like 3500 ft elevation. Sedona 4500 ish. Still gets hot, but not horrible. Not nearly as cold as Flagstaff nor Prescott.
Sedona is incredibly expensive and jam packed with tourists.

I briefly had a thought about Prescott. Get out of the worst of the heat and for other reasons about Tucson I can't post, but the housing prices were a bit much. We love Cottonwood, it's our go-to fall and winter camping spot. We get a spot for our trailer at Dead Horse Ranch state park with hook-ups, good spot literally in town with good fishing. Screw around in town, go out for dinner, head up to Jerome, etc.

When/if I ever get fired from the railroad I will definitely be moving up that way. Not sure exactly where, but somewhere in the area. If that doesn't happen, I suppose I will have to wait until retirement.

Jerome is such a cool place too. Crazy on the weekends, but great to visit during the week.

I rarely have actual weekends off. I don't miss that one bit!

If you like golf, you'll find plenty of it now.

Yep, we try to camp during the week and go up then. Still remember the first time heading up to Jerome from Cottonwood and running into Maynard (Tool) at his wine shop. I'm not a big wine drinker, but the bottle I bought (Chupacabra red) is still one of my favorites. I have only found it at one shop here in Tucson.

I really thinks he's the one who has been helping that area become what it's becoming. I was never a Tool fan, but he seems to be a pretty good dude. Maybe I will try some of his wine next time I'm up there.

Don't think it hurts having him around. He has a couple of restaurants there too, I have yet to try one, maybe next time. I think we're shooting to head up in Oct.

Yeah, he has invested a lot of money in that area.

If you're up in the area for Halloween, they do a huge party in Jerome. We went a couple years ago, pretty fun.
