Like most- my CarPlay connectivity is horrible. Especially when trying to multi task (ex google maps nav and taking a phone call)

what has everyone found to be the best solution or replacement for this?

looking at some CarPlay extensions on amazing like Jemluse

Whatever this forum told me to do
i use one of those cheap wireless carplay dongles on my 2020 1794

    works fine

except when I pass a place with the same bandwidth...and it drops for a second.

    wired carplay is flawless.

We installed a Kenwood deck in my daughter's Corolla and tossed the factory setup. It works so well that now my mom wants the same deck in her RAV4.

I already had an aftermarket amp (JL Audio), sub and speakers (Memphis Audio). I chose to go with one of the all-in-one solutions from TrailGridPro using the XAV-9000ES. Couldn't be happier. Far better sound, far more customizable, and bonus is wireless CarPlay.

Have the same head unit, it's great. Haven't installed the updated yet but in March they released an update that added wired Carplay which solves my only minor complaint about the head unit, slight lag over wireless carplay.

If wired carplay isn't working great, I'd surmise it's either a software or cable issue. Carplay connected via usb should work great.

What! That's literally the only issue I've had - and a miniscule one at that. That's the only thing I've wanted for this head unit...obviously I'm slacking. I guess I know what I'm doing later! :D

Only issues I have with wireless CarPlay is there are certain spots in town that causes it to disconnect but it’ll reconnect immediately once I’m passed that spot.

Yeah I believe you can update the HU either via phone/wifi tethering using the USB port (which should be connected to your USB data port below HVAC) or by downloading the update to a USB flash drive and plugging it in same way.

@COTundra23 I've heard mostly good things about the "insert random brand" car play dongles as well, but I'd maybe start with crossing the t's and dotting the i's of source (phone), cords, USB ports etc. already in your truck to make sure everything is working properly before spending money on something that might not be needed/might not fix the root cause.

I took my 2021 1794 to the dealer yesterday and the service rep kept telling me that my head unit wasn't stock and this is after I had him look at it in person. It is stock as it gets.
