I need some ideas please! I'll try to be brief: Was having rando codes for over a year, almost went broke replacing parts that weren't really bad. Clearing the codes with my $50 scanner worked for a few weeks at a time. Codes got more frequent, bought a used ecm on ebay, did the youtube paper clip reprogramming/reset trick, truck cranks but no start (immobilizer?). All kinds of codes and flashing icons. Put the old ecm back in, same thing. Now I have a giant paperweight in my driveway

I would be willing to bet the anti theft immobilizer is in full effect.

You will need a shop/friend with a lot nicer scanner (think snap on) to clear codes and figure out the root problem.

I have a spare ECM for my jeep due to some bad diagnostics that cost me 1600.00. Once the ECM was programmed we couldn't remove the vin lock. Sucked because it was a 50.00 part that ended up being the problem.

Possibly, but they probably won't. It should be a 1 hour diagnostic fee to have them reprogram the VIN for you. Orrrrr, you go down the path of techstream.

You can search this forum for ECU recovery and it'll get you sorted. You're not the first.

Regarding the old one not working, if it was already on its way out, the power loss could have just sealed its fate.
