I'm a Ram girl and did all the research on our last two Rams.
He's interested in a Tundra, I'm here to learn. 2023-new

Must haves: 4wheel drive, 4 doors, not a short bed.
He does hunt and would go off road at times.
We had a bed liner, side steps and back up cameras and full back seat with 4 doors.
    That's pretty much it.

What would you recommend? Don't want the SR basic trim. This will be his last truck purchase so I want it to be nice.

What can you suggest and if you have a dealer known to dicker within 700 miles of Ga, I'm all ears!

get a Limited trim or better for most of the bells and whistles. the lower trims will be more elective type package upgrades. My research led me to this conclusion and it made shopping much easier. 4x4 limited has most of the interior upgrades.

Yeah minimum 4x4 limited in my opinion, you can pick and choose what you want to upgrade aftermarket. I would also look more towards new as you will find the price differences are not extreme with year range your looking at between are and used.

By 4 doors, do you mean a Crewcab (Toyota calls it a crewmax) or an extended cab with a small backseat (double cab)?
Crewmax comes in 5.5’ bed or 6.5’ bed (rarer).
Double cabs come with the 6.5’ bed or 8.1’ bed (very rare).

Limited trim is your most bang for the buck (factory leather, heaters up front, navigation, etc). That’s the highest trim you can get in the double cabs. 1794, TRD Pro, Platinum, and Capstone are crewmax only.

Either Platinum or 1794 trim with 6.5' bed, power step rails, head-up display, and I suggest to consider hybrid the model. 2025s have good prices with 26's arriving. Check Fox Toyota in Clinton, TN for good selection and prices.

Can you help me with the inside part? Our Ram has four doors, a proper backseat. Which would that be? Definitely has to have the 6.5 bed. He currently has the 6.8 and hauls his ATV to camp.

If you go SR5 make sure it has the big fuel tank. If he hunts like me, factory 3" lift might be good. When I get back in the truck after a cold hunt I like seat heaters. I'm not a hybrid guy but that's a you choice. If you use tow mirrors get them factory. Offroad package with locking rear differential and red axles (3" lift comes with silver axles also good).

Toyota of Greenville sc beat every dealer in sc, nc, and ga a few months ago when I bought 25 limited. They took 10l off where most other dealers were 3500-7500 off.

    go limited off road imo

SR5 with the package that gives you the softex seats and 6.5 bed. Love my 2024. All the nice comfy seat with less of the nonsense electronics you’re stuck with on higher trims. Excellent 4WD

What kind of "Hubby" allows his wife to choose his truck? Dude needs to get his man card back. :)

Hahaha, my cigar smoking, gun-totin', truck driving, horse-breaking, boot-wearin, rough and tumble of a man appreciates his wife with a masters in financial planning and a gift for auto research.

Last time I picked out a truck to haul all of our horses, I was talking more axle ratio and torque than the saleman. Hubby was too busy to deal with all that. Do you have trouble thinking a woman can talk truck and haggle prices? Should I have been in the kitchen baking a pie? :p

Thanks everybody for your help. I'm totally out of my lane with Toyota trucks. I've always gotten Rams and know their product. I've got some work to do!

Sounds like you need a Crew Cab 6.5 bed and I would recommend Limited or higher trim level. That way you get the big gas tank as well. 6.5 beds are a little harder to come by, but most dealer lots are stuffed to the gills right now so it shouldn’t be too bad.

    I was kidding...mostly.

I couldn't live without my wife of 35 years. She handles a ton of sh!t that I don't care to. She makes a killer banana cream pie, too.

But I draw the line at choosing my trucks.

My vote is for 1794 edition, it exceeds your min reqs. You can choose hybrid TTV6 or regular TTV6, imo either engine is fine.

Any long bed version (6.5’ crew max or 8’ double cab) gets the big gas tank.

For what it’s worth, this wasn’t true for my SR5 6.5’ crewmax, regular 20 something gal tank

I didn't include the Capstone since I don't think it is what you are looking for in a working/hauling truck, and it isn't worth the asking price.

You need to spend some time on the website and see the difference choices.
As other stated, the trim level of Limited or above is probably what you are looking for.
As well as a TRD package for the suspension.
You also need to decide if you want gas only or a hybrid i-FORCE MAX engine.

    Good luck..

Interesting, they must have changed that. I got that from a YouTube video from a dealer reading spec sheets right from Toyota when they first came out.

You’ve mentioned towing a couple of times. The adjustable air suspension would probably be a nice option to have.
