Well, I went to move my truck (2008 tundra crewmax 4x4 5.7) to take it out tomorrow and I was hearing a bunch of clanking and it rode odd. It felt like a flat tire. After moving it about 100’ I looked underneath and see one of the lower ball joint/control arm bolts is gone. I called two stores near me and nobody sells the bolt and I’m not having any luck finding a part number.
I did replace the lower ball joints and control arms as well as swaybar end links 4-5 months ago but I guess I didn’t get the bolt torqued down enough. I plan to use lock tight this next go round.

Ive never had this happen before so is it as simple as replacing the bolt and rechecking everything or are there any other things I need to check? I drove this truck 100 miles highway last week and it ran great so I think this lost bolt was a recent occurrence.

what website do you use to find part number like above? I never see the exact part number when looking at my dealers parts website.

Aren't those bolts 1 time use?? I think for most vehicles, once it comes out, it has to be replaced or they'll back out.

I've never had an issue with mine after installing two lifts.

Idk.. I'm in the process of replacing an axle on my Civic and it's stated that they should be replaced. Similar on my Celica, but it's been a long time and they're still there.. I did lose a rear control arm bolt after a suspension mod and it nearly killed me on the interstate.

I think since the bolts are pretty expensive and so important, I’m going to replace both and use some blue loctite on them just to be sure. Anything else I should check?

Thank you to everyone for the replies.

Any reason I wouldn’t want to use red loctite as opposed to blue? It’s not super glue, from what I recall it’s just a little stronger hold. I don’t want to have this issue happen again, especially when I’m driving down the road.

Well, sounds like I’m going to use red loctite! lol. Then in 3 years when I need to remove them, I’ll forget what I did and cuss and yell when I can’t use my socket set to get them out. What could possible go wrong?
