My wife recently backed into my truck. I finally got it to the body shop for repairs under a USAA claim. They ended up keeping the door panel and repairing it, plus paint blending across the fender and door. They finished the job last Friday after doing a calibration of the one system they thought needed to be done. IIRC it was related to seat weight sensors.

Picked up the truck COB on Friday. On Saturday, I noticed some system failure errors for LDA (lane departure) and the pre-collision warning system. It went away and didn’t come back. But just in case, I brought it back in yesterday to make sure everything was okay. He ran his calibration scanner tool and decided everything was okay. I figured it was a fluke since it had only happened once.

But today, I drove from the Bay Area to Las Vegas. About 3/4 of the way there, I started getting system malfunction errors again. This time, four different errors: Pre-Collision, LDA, Cruise Control. It continued for a couple hundred miles. And now it’s back to not doing it.

What might be wrong? Why would his scanner not be picking up any error codes? This never happened before the body shop work. (Caliber Collision, btw; national chain).

I have no real mods in place, so I can’t think of anything else that would throw this. I have some LED lights in the truck wired up to the battery. I have a cell phone charger hard wired on the dash (ProClip). And I have a Compustar remote starter.

    Frustrated!

Scanners do run different "levels' of checks, so make sure someone is using a scanner that is capable of checking 'all systems', and you'll have to make sure the 'scan' request is for all systems and not a routine or CEL scan...

Also, before you do anything else (other than the scan), I'd try pulling the negative cable off the battery and let it sit for 10-15 minutes and then re-connect. It's the equivalent of a hard reset for a computer or phone for our trucks....

But, it does sound like a sensor calibration issue. I wonder if it's possible when they did the recalibration that they uploaded/used an incorrect model, year, trim package, etc... :notsure:

Thanks. Waiting for a call back from them.

Do you have any idea what sensors are supposed to be calibrated for just a door and fender panel repair?

    No clue, sir...

All these darn systems though... they make any basic repair or fix a giant PITA.

Have you checked the sensor behind the emblem in the grill?

It really seems like you have a poor connection at the sensor.

Reach in there from the top of the grill with the hood up and unplug it and plug it back in. You won't hurt anything with the electronics doing this.

You might have to remove the access panel left of the secondary hood latch to gain access.
