Does anyone perform maintenance on the power folding mirrors, such as greasing the internals and similar. In Texas, the weather and temps change fast and I've noticed occasionally after a big temp swing or moisture event I will hear an occasional squeak coming from inside the housing. Usually goes away quick. Wondering if there is a simple way to maintain the pivot point or gears and prolong the lifespan of the mechanism. Thanks for any advice.

my passenger one started to squeak everytime it folded in a couple months back. Mentioned it to my SA during my last oil change tire rotation and they fixed it.

Nothing wrong with my 23 TRD mirror in the Dallas area.

Looking at the out housing, it appears there is no easy way to take it off, so my first assumption is the entire unit has to be removed and disassembled.

The outer shell pops off, but I don't think it gives any access to the parts you mention wanting to lube. Going from memory, as we had one get bumped off by a tree limb on one of our fleet trucks, last year.

I've owned 3 Tundras over the last 18 years. I have to fold my mirrors in to park in my garage. So, I've literally cycled the folding mirrors thousands of times without problems. I've never even considered any maintenance on them.

yep, called them up and threatened a class action lawsuit or something so that they’d give me a v8. Got the recommendation from some 2nd gen folks who hang around the 3rd gen forum
