Bought it on Amazon. It’s for the newer tundra.

just had to drill out one hole (if you zoom into the picture) for it to mount up to the tail light. I did add a washer to this. It rest right on the tailgate bracket. I bought the right side, a left side is also available.

I can take more pics also

I do too, so does my father. We get it from my Grandpa who came from Okie to California during the dust bowl, so yeah. From a sustainability standpoint, it's better to keep and recycle if there's an eventual use instead of putting in the recycling bin.

Back to using the truck as my daily for the foreseeable future so shoring up the loose ends. Finally got a new rack and pinion on. Went with Edelmann and threw on those polyurethane bushings too. Steering is pretty light now but I don't hate it. Probably wouldn't do it again, though. Just need an alignment now.

After I put the new rack on and topped it off with ATF using the steering wheel rotate technique, the truck was shaking badly when turning in any direction. Thought my rack might be defective. I let it idle for an hour and now it's fine. I guess there was air in the system. Might be some kind of air leak in the lines that are on the rack itself, not really sure.

Did pads and rotors too. Went with powerstop, not sure which ones, nothing fancy. I have the stuff to do the drums as well, but I'm kind of putting it off. A little intimidated by the job.

If it makes you feel better I don't even know the condition of my drums. Probably will have my buddy do them for me because I just don't want to haha.

Thanks, that's pretty sweet that it fits so well.
Question, does it sit behind the tailgate latch at all, or is it just flush up against the top of it?

quick & easy cheat code for drums is to take good before pics, and do one side at a time. The front shoe & rear shoe are slightly different lengths.

Weird the orange purple DC coil is 14"
The yellow striped coil I took off the driver side of the T3 is 14.5"
    20250717_105207.jpg
I wonder if this orange purple coil is the passenger side?
Edit: purple purple is about 13.9" so I guess it is passenger.

Jake was right, a little heat and some love taps did the trick to free the epoxied drop perch.

Also the previous shop that installed my coils to my 4600's forgot to put the bottom washer for the bushing on.

Well fuck... The DC coils are too short. There a lot of play still..it thought once I put em on I could crank down on the top nut, but even so... I can spin the spring with ease and there's some up and down play as well. Like a 1/8".

Not sure if I want to move the snap rings back to the second notch (where they were before) or just use my old coils.

Open to suggestions while I take a break to clear my head.

    I see the issue now.
    20250717_122626.jpg
    Hmm...

Yeah I think my only choices are use the 0.5" taller T3 springs or leave the 5100's on the second notch. As long as it does not lift the front any more than the rear, wtf do I care? I wanna ditch the sway bar anyways.

Oh and turns out me and Casey put the driver coil on the passenger side when we lowered the truck. 14.75" vs 14.5"

Honestly, chances are you're going to do a better job than any shop will do. And if your shoes are fine, i.e. they have a fair bit of material, you just need to release the shoes, pop your old drum off, install the new drum, and tension the shoes back out.

It's not mandatory to replace the shoes. Its definitely not mandatory to replace your old hardware, if it's working properly, the sad reality is, the aftermarket spring packs are shit, and doesn't have OEM-equivalent/OEM-function springs to go with them. If you ever do get aftermarket hardware, and the springs aren't the exact same shape, I highly recommend re-using the OEM for that specific spring.

@Dakillacore can probably link you back to the 'why' on that one, and also why you should always buy OEM shoes - with drum shoes, a hole or the two metal pieces of the shoe can be out by 1/32" and it can mean the difference between the shoes engaging properly, and not engaging or sticking. OEM is built to respect those tolerances; aftermarket is made as cheaply as possible and could give a shit less, because they know you'll drag it back to the store to hope the next one isn't defective should you run into problems. That's the current aftermarket philosphy/model for "quality control": Make the customer verify it's within spec.

Sadly, some people find that out after spending hours doing a job (starter, fuel pump, etc.) and those MFers sure as hell don't compensate you for time. Many stores also won't give you a refund, only an exchange, so once you commit your dollars to that aftermarket part, you're SOL if you're unhappy with it.

Done. Moved the driver 5100 back up to the second notch, kept the DC coils, removed the front sway bar and front mud flaps. Might remove the rear mud flaps.

You replacing the drums? I’m at 280k+ miles on original drums. And I adjust my brakes often to keep them engaging.

Are those wheel cylinders rusty af, or is that brake shoe dust? I'd reboot and repack those bastards.

Just surface. There was a ton of brake dust in there. I’m sure they would have cleaned up with minimal scrubbing. I sprayed with brake clean and called it good

Second try here.....found the pics the wife took of the Tundra in the Wilds of Crackheadia. Let's see here...

Two days ago we pulled the short trailer down there and removed 930 pounds of garbage on two hauls to the landfill. That completes (nearly) all the trash on the outside of the structures. (I'd already hauled off a few hundred pounds a few weeks ago). We finished with a third load, this time tree branches, and pulled those the 30 miles back home and dumped at our leisure in our home landfill (which is much better laid out and operated than the one near the jobsite).

Part of the trailer park next door. The smell of raw sewage, garbage, and loco weed is usually pretty noticeable. That small shed seems to be a "smoke house" since whenever we pull up a man and woman invariably exit, sometimes tweaking, sometimes not. It's best not to engage with anyone there if spoken to.

    20250429_162351.jpg

First garbage load. This one was 600 pounds IIRC. Second load (330 pounds) removed what is left on the ground in this pic. We have the entire contents of all four floors of that house and garage to remove. Non paying renter, X number of squatters, drug users....they left A LOT OF MATERIAL in there we will remove in the coming weeks.
