I suggest you let this cook in the thread you already posted instead of posting here as well.

Additionally there is lots of info on springs in the very first post in this thread. See: "Guidance to pick the right lifted spring w/Bilstein 5100/4600"

    Thinking about buying a 1GT….

First of all this post is great. Definitely a valuable tool to use over and over.

My question is about frame upkeep. I will do my due diligence with the frame of whatever truck I buy. But my concern is how to keep a clean frame, clean. I live in NY. What do you rust belt owners do to keep your frames clean? Are there good/necessary treatments or is it just a matter of hosing it down as often as possible?

The tl;dr on this one from what I've read from rust belt folks over the years, to save you some searching:
    • Avoid driving salty roads as much as possible
    • Coat annually with a product like woolwax before salting begins
    • Rinse undercarriage regularly during winter
The reality is, if you drive on salty roads, anything you do is simply delaying the inevitable rot and failure that's bound to happen.

The simplest option I've found is to just have a different vehicle to drive in the winter months. My truck hasn't seen salt since frame replacement in 2021. Otherwise yeah, you're just going to delay the inevitable, fluid film helps.
