Lights on aftermarket tow mirrors?

I have a 2015 Tundra SR5 TRD OFF ROAD. I was wanting to change the side mirrors with the tow mirrors with the LED turn signal lights. My side mirrors do not currently have the turn signal light option. I called auto anything, and real truck.com and they both said if you do not currently have the turn signal option than the light function will not work on the aftermarket tow mirrors with the led light option. I figured I would ask everyone that actually has a Tundra. Does anyone know anything about this that could help me? Will they work? Or Not work?? Thanks guys!!!

 

The mirror lights will work on your truck. Just like @ColoradoTJ said, I would go with OEM towing mirrors. I waited and picked mine up basically brand new off of Craigslist. I have a 14' that came with the Sport mirrors, no lights. Now with the OEM towing mirrors, when I put my lights on the side markers on the mirror turn on, and they also blink with the blinker.

Right on man ! I will buy the factory replacement mirrors. I was only going to buy them if the LED lights worked on them. But if you guys say they do I'm taking your guys word for it. This forum you get great advice from people that have already done most mods. Thanks!

 

I know this is a old post but I got a question about my 2011. I got the tow Mirrors on Amazon and have had them for about 2 years. Work great but i haven’t figured out the marker and turn lights, is it possible to get them wired into the existing plugs or any kind of options?

 

That's weird, should have been plug and play. My 2007 was, just plugged them in and all the lights worked.

 

The stock ones didn’t have the mirror lights. But I figured the plug should still have the wires in it? I guess I was wrong? Not sure if there’s a way to splice in?

 

Mine didn't have the lights either. Hopefully someone else knows.

I think you need the tow package for them to work with OEM. If they aren't OEM I would assume the results could vary.

OP had a 3rd gen, I believe all 5.7 3rd Gens have the tow package.

 

Not entirely sure what all the tow package consists of. But I have the tow/haul button and trailer plugs on the rear..

 

I would assume you have it. Are the tow mirrors OEM?

I have a 14' SR5 w/TRD package with the 5.7, it came with the regular Sport mirrors. I installed OEM tow mirrors myself and I have a functioning running light and blinker on each tow mirror.

 

I got the mirrors on Amazon, pretty sure their not OEM but they look exact same as every other one I see. Doesn’t make sense to me why they would have a plug that’s missing pins?

 

I agree. If I recall correctly there is a brand, I think 1A, that makes them and only one of the two light options works. Like only the blinkers but not the running lights or vice versa.

Ya I read that on another thread too. But mine don’t running lights or blinkers. I don’t think the defrost is even working? Winters comin pretty quick and I’d like to get the defrost atleast.

 

Maybe try reaching the seller to reach the manufacturer for some guidance.

Maybe someone else here with a similar issue will chime in.

I’ll tear em apart tomorrow and see if I can compare plugs or something. Will update if I find anything.

 

I guess at the least double check your connections, make sure the connectors are plugged in all the way.

So looked at it and the plug on my truck only has 3 wires to it. The mirrors have 8 pins. I believe I seriously just don’t have the wiring here from factory.

 

Hey thanks for the picture. But I just don’t have the wiring. Guess I’ll have to find a schematic and see where to run wires from to make the other options available.

 

Yes. The mirror has 8 pins in it. But my plug from the truck only has 3 wires in it. So I imagine I have to find where to splice in wires and then route them up. Unless Toyota just hides wires somewhere?

 

Where did you get the pins to crimp on and slide in the connector? And do I just get witting schematics from the dealership so I know what wires I’m looking for?
