    nah, don’t give a shit about those so much , but….

    as has been well documented, the snakes , damn snakes , ugh

    I already saw one when I was out there, not at my house, but a newer dig site house we were looking at

    if one of those gets in, all hell will break loose

    I’ve only ever had one snake in my actual yard in 16 years of living here. Now further out in the desert… ymmv. Seen quite a few rattlers while out wheeling.

    In the two separate homes I lived in out there, I never saw a snake on either of the properties. Buddy had land out near Wittman we would go shooting on and only saw the occasional tarantula. I'm sure the snakes were out there somewhere but they kept to themselves.

    Either way, if you are doing anything around bushes it is a good idea to give the bushes a whack with a long stick to check to see if there is a rattler hiding under it. You'll hear it before you see it. I'm not super familiar with the part of Arizona you will be in so I can't add any specific advice for your area.

    Would be kinda funny if you ran into Javelina one night while out front or something. We got the occasional coyote in the neighborhood.

    I've seen a couple, including one in my garage. None of them were rattlers though, so I let them be in the hopes they might eat some of the damn mice.

    The only one I’ve seen up close in my yard was a king snake. And it was going to be left alone until my dog came by and the snake lunged. Suddenly the snake didn’t have a head :notsure:

    I wouldn't expect anything unless you are in a relatively newer development on the outskirts of town on a larger lot near empty fields or something along those lines. Scorpions on the other hand, they are all over.

    That's a shame, the kings eat rattlers.

    Edit==Borla==

    If you see a kingsnake, don't kill it. It is harmless and will actually eat any rattlesnakes it comes across. Not a bad idea to familiarize yourself with what the kingsnakes in the area look like so you don't accidentally kill one. Depending on the region, kingsnakes can look different.

    Yeah. I wasn’t happy that it happened, but shit goes fast when you get a surprise snake under a bucket and have a shovel in your hands.

    @Breathing Borla
    You’ve got younger/ish kids right?
    once you get settled there are 3 local attractions I recommend; Pima air and space museum, titan missile museum and the Arizona Sonoran desert museum

    I would add the Kitt Peak observatory to that list. Kids under 13 and under are free.

    If you have a dog, consider getting it snake trained so that it avoids any snakes it comes across. Don’t want to risk your pupper getting hurt if it examines a random snake it comes up on. It’s something we do out here in this part of California as there are a ton of rattlers in the hills.

    We usually get one snake a year in the yard - only once has it been a rattler. Mostly king snakes and long nose. You can find scorpions and tarantulas most warm nights if you know where to look.

    Well, if you run out of Coors light and need a Miller Lite, I'm just a few miles down Houghton.
