Ask to get on the list to demo the new latches.

Thanks Mike's Custom Toys for the quick shipment and answering questions. I thought I would post a couple photos.

I had in my driveway about 2 days later.

I was going to purchase a Smartcap for my 25 Tundra about 4 months ago till I read all the stories regarding paint issues coming out of the new Texas facility. Have those issues been resolved with the most recent batch? I’m on the fence between the Smartcap and an Alu Cab Contour. I really prefer the looks of the Smartcap but I’m wary of quality issues.

I now also have a latch that is popping open. Guess I'll reach out to RSI tomorrow

Has anybody figured out if there's a reasonable way to simply adjust the latches so they don't pop open? I have to imagine it is just an adjustment issue since it is happening over time.

I haven't been able to get failing latches to work via adjustment. RSI sent me old style latches and their new latches are being redesigned due to the failures.

I kept the new style on the back hatch as those two never failed and I would like to be able to unlatch from the inside.

Supposedly RSI is going to send me the updated latches when they are available.

Damn. I haven't tried yet, but are we able to just close and lock the defective latch to keep it closed?

Locking didn't help mine. Going off of memory, the latches led me to believe that there isn't enough "sear" engagement on some of them and those are the ones that appear to fail. The lock prevents the "trigger" from being depressed, but the sear can still slip if that makes sense.

I ended up zip tying the failed latches to the bed rails while waiting for replacements

Thanks for replying. I tried locking mine and had the same experience. I called the reseller who I got mine from and they're going to get back to me on Monday with what they can do. I think I might try to remove my lock and tinker with it. I'll see if I can come up with some fix.

Above is the email that I sent my correspondence to. It took a bit of back and forth with pictures and videos the first time. The second time around they immediately sent me the old style latches and informed me that they were working on a redesign.

This lock BS on a product that costs thousands of dollars is pissing me off. I'm getting legitimately angry about it. Especially the laze faire pace of rectifying it.
