    Good Morning,
I am new to this forum. I wanted to know if anyone has towed a camper with a new Tundra SR5 SX pkg. V6 Twin Turbo. I am camping in three weeks with a 5100 lb travel trailer. I used to tow with a 2020 F150 V8. Wondering if I will have any problems with this new truck According to Toyota it should be no problem at all.

Check your owner's manual! I have a 2025 sr5 and the dealership told me it had a tow package and it could tow 11,400! The owner's manual says it can only tow 8,300! Mine doesn't have the tow package, like I was told. I towed a 25 ft travel trailer that weighs 6500 and the transmission over heated and had a MAJOR shaking when we stop to get gas and left the gas station in first and second gear! Make sure you have the tow package! Transmission cooler, beefed up suspension and some other extras!

@Shedguy1 , I believe you were doing it wrong. Or your Tundra needs to be looked at by the dealer. The 2022+ Tundras are rated for well beyond, and should have no issues pulling a trailer of that size IF YOU WERE FOLLOWING THE RECOMENDATIONS IN THE OWNERS MANUAL.

Just going off the information you gave, your truck’s maximum towing capacity is somewhere between 11,000 and 12,000 lbs. If your truck’s 4x4, it’ll be just over 11,000 lbs.

Going by my owner's manual, the SR AND SR5 only has 8300! If you have one that has the optional TOW PACKAGE, YOU SHOULD HAVE THE HIGHER CAPACITY! You will have a transmission cooler, bigger radiator and beefed up suspension!

The SR has the 8300# towing, an SR5 has either 11,090 to 12,000#

The most valuable preparation is using the proper hitch. At that weight, you should highly consider a weight distribution hitch. Keep in mind that weight at the tongue you will be distributing through the truck hitch (and frame with a WDH) is considered payload for your truck. Also, familiarize yourself with the manual brake switch (slide). Have it a natural motion to reach directly for it in the case of any emergency braking. It will give what you have set in gain fully to the trailer brakes.

Check the truck package specs. The build package selection is going to really affect your towing experience. If it’s a SR5 w/ just SX you will only have a 22.5 gal fuel tank. Optimistic @12mpg @70mph you’re going to be refueling every 2.5 hours. if you also got the SR5 Convenient package you got the 32.2 gal tank. When you refuel topping the tank does your range say. 300 or 400 miles range?

I have the 22.5. They told me I have the tow package and could tow 11,400 when I bought it. The manual in the truck says only 8,300. I have a 6500 lb trailer that it wouldn't tow. Trans overheated.

You’ll be fine with that weight OP. Do you have a weight distribution hitch with your camper? I’d suggest that. Check the towing section in the manual, I think it recommends one at that weight.

Again, tell us more about your towing experience with that trailer. Is it a travel trailer? What gear were you towing in? Conditions that day? High altitude mountain passes or flat ground?

What, you need a deep dive analysis for this with a Q&A that covers every base? It’s a 5,100 lb travel trailer and he has towing experience.
