Hmmm….if stripped completely, repainted Salsa red and clear coated, I’d have close to $1000 into it. Would it be worth my drive ?

It would match the paint job on my roof completely as is right now. It's about an hour and half away from me. Trying to decide on if I want to go the topper or just tonneau cover route.

Had my Salsa Red roof and tonneau cover stripped and repainted a few months back. While the topper would look good, not worth 4hr trip after all. Mis-remembered where Cleveland, TN was.

Is it AC or DC? I’m still jealous of the flat top caps.

Yeah, biggest issue with that location is having to drive thru Chattanooga to get there. I hate going through there. Especially since they are doing even more construction on the interstate.

The only issue with the topper is that I would not have easy access to put the ladder racks back on if I needed them. I took them off for my daughter to start driving it and was looking at either a soft cover or the trifold. That way it was just a couple clamps and could be removed if I need the racks put back on quickly.

Ladder racks make truck caps better. Nothing is impossible.

But my ladder racks won't work with a topper.

DITTO! FYI, if you're having issues with screen brightness, I found forcing the head unit into always-daylight mode and pumping the brightness all the way up really seems to help. Also helps to have the illumination lead hooked up, although as we found in another thread, the illumination lead seems to be present on most OEM radio harnesses, but isn't always present on the Metra harness, which is weird.

I mean, if a cap has been something you want, and you want a cap with Windoors, I think it's worth it. $250 is a great price, especially for a carpeted medium-rise from a good company like Leer. I think the shell has been discontinued by Leer, my only concern would be whether it'd fit your DC, specifically knowing the rear cab wall on DC has a different angle/shape to its rise than AC/RC cabs.

A heard from a cabin builder in N. GA they're apparently about to open some lock/dam around Chatt, and it's going to leave a bunch of waterfront homes high and dry? Sounded like an interesting way to maybe score a house at a good deal? I failed to look into it after the fact, I guess maybe that's something to toss onto my Friday to-do list...

You can always add the rails and cross bars to the topper. Idk how long your ladders are, but a 22ft multi position will fit in the bed no problem. 18ft will fit horizontally.

Man my main complaint with my ilx-w650 is the screen glare. It's so bad. If its not dark or dawn or dusk, it can be tough to see. Also I back straight out of my driveway every morning dead east, so that kinda doesn't help.

Maybe this is a sign that I need to tint my windows.

It'll be the same with any gloss-faced head unit you install, due to the angle of the screen and size of our windshields. You can buy matte/eggshell screen protectors to deal with that if you want. Alpine used to sell them direct, but when I checked a few months ago, they only had it for the HALO series. And using one of those will also degrade the quality/crispness of the picture.

Memphis was crazy, too. I was cautious with my vehicles, and didnt realize bumpercars was an option. I worked in germantown. Bicycle distance.
