Hey everyone! I have a 2017 Tundra, limited, crewmax, 4wd. Doing my first brake job on it at 88,000 miles with Toyota OEM parts (pads and rotors). I have tried searching for the torque specs for the caliper mounting bolts and the slide pin bolts but keep finding varying results. Does anyone know the proper torque for these bolts for both front and rear calipers? I'm finding for the front mounting bolts, 133 ft/lbs and also 73 ft/lbs. Huge difference. Slide pin bolts state 27 ft/lbs. Not looking for opinions, I have always just torqued other vehicles to feel, but I want to use proper torques on this vehicle. Thanks for any input!

From the Toyota factory service manual:

Front disc brake caliper bolt 73 LB-FT
Rear disc brake caliper bolt 65 LB-FT

Ok, that sounds much better! Do you know if the 27 lb/ft is correct for front and rear slide pin bolts? And I also read somewhere where Toyota doesn't recommend reusing the caliper bolts, is that true? Thanks for the info!

Toyota used larger front and rear caliper mounting bolts for the 2016 and newer models.

For 2016 and newer Tundra caliper bolts:

    Front - 180 N-m (133 lb-ft)
    Rear - 167 N-m (123 lb-ft)

Toyota also states the caliper bolts are not reusuable.

65 lb-ft is the rear caliper slider pin torque, and that number remained the same 2007-2021.

These values are not correct for 2016 and newer.

The 65 ft-lb is for the rear caliper slider bolt. The rear caliper mounting bolts have different torque values.

For the 2016 and newer trucks, see torque values in previous post (#5).

    For 2007-2015 models :

    Front disc brake caliper bolts - 99 N-m (73 ft-lb)
    Rear caliper mounting bolts - 95 N-m (70 ft-lb)
    Rear caliper slide pin bolts - 88 N-m (65 ft-lb)

I had a feeling I would still find varying numbers. Not sure why the difference between those years unless they changed the bolt size. I appreciate the information!

Whaaat? o_O Is this true? I've never heard of that before. I've always reused my caliper bolts on my Taco. They're the same ones that came with the truck.

That information is per the Toyota manual for the Tundra. I don't know what the book says for the Tacoma.

I reused them and had one come loose about 1k after swapping new brakes in. Cost me a tow, new caliper, new wheel and a couple hours of labor at the dealership. Worth the small cost to just get new ones in my book.

Dealer told me they aren’t reusable and swapped them all out while they were in there.

    Caliper Mounting Bolts for 2016 - 2021
    Front (M14 bolt size) - 90105-A0336
    Rear - 90119-A0282

    Caliper Mounting Bolts for 2007-2015
    Front (M12 bolt size) - 90119-A0277
    Rear - 90119-A0276

Rear bolt sizes were not listed in the parts info, but the 2016+ are larger than 2007-15.

Just called my local Toyota parts dept to order new bolts. Explained the reason for needing them. Said he never heard of such a thing and doesn't keep them in stock. Stated they change pads and rotors all the time and reuse them.

Do the caliper bolt have a thread lock patch on them? Doesn’t seem the torque value indicates a torque-to-yield bolt unless they’re made of pot metal.

    Nvm… standard M14 grade 8.8 bolt torque is around 61 Nm/45 ft-lb. So probably a TTY bolt.

Internet search engines are turning to garbage. Toyotas spec is in the correct range for a M14 grade 8.8 bolt.

well damn, I put new pads and rotors on about 40k miles ago and reused the same bolts. No issues at all. Makes me wonder, did I get lucky or are my bolts gifted by Kratos himself? Curious though. I'll most likely grab a set of new bolts for front and rear to have on hand. They're cheap enough.
