Hi Everyone. New here and just recently got a 2000 Tundra in Colorado that was originally purchased by its first owner in the "salt" state of PA and lived there for 22 years before coming west.

Checked the recalls and see that the frame has never been inspected or been sprayed according to Toyota owners or NHTA websites.

I do see some black speckled coating here and there on the frame but it seems to be more unilateral and am not sure if it's just that a prior owner spray painted parts of the frame themselves or if it's the actual CRC material.

Does any one have a picture that they could share on here of what the frame looks like AFTER it's been coated with the corrosive preventative material Toyota used for the recall?
    Would greatly appreciate it!

I saw one person said the CRC that the toyota used never dried and got on their hands. This stuff is dry and flaking off.

Planning to take into the dealer to get it looked at, but not sure if this black paint stuff that's here and there will negate the ability to repair or replace the frame.

    Lisa

Most of mine has worn off and dried up so it’s difficult to tell, so I wouldn’t be able to help you. It’s generally a smooth texture with shallow bumps in it. When it’s new it’s tacky and gets all over you. You need a 1 cm hole in the frame to qualify for a new one if they still offer it. Very few dealers are doing it at all so you may want to indicate what area of the country you’re located so some people can provide suggestions on where to go.

Thanks for the response, Jack! I'm in Northern Colorado - Fort Collins area.
Was going to take it to Pederson Toyota in the am and see what they say, but was just trying to see what it looked like so I can compare.

Any suggestions folks have on successfully dealers in Colorado servicing the frame recall would be wonderful.
    Can post pics tomorrow too.

Hi iam Bill in the N.Y. area. Love my 02 sequoia. Neighbor noticed a crack in .y frame above the rear tire. Brought it to a body shop and more and they replaced the metal on both sides and a new receiver hitch for $3000. They also undercoated the sequoia.
I called and wrote to toyota years ago and they denied checking it or anything.

For what it’s worth, I’ve gone to Pederson a few times (my dad lives in FoCo) and they’ve always been great. I don’t know about frame replacements I just wanted to say hi to another person from the fort.

Hi Nimitz_ - Fellow FoCo Familiar! Thanks for saying hi.
Fingers and toes crossed Pederson honors the recalls that are showing up for our vehicle.
Couldn't take us today, had to reschedule for 2-ish weeks from now.
