I didn’t use any RTV, but I cleaned both real good. The seal has a rubber layer on the outside so I assumed RTV would be unnecessary.

I think those rubber layers can be hit or miss. l’d take a closer look in that particular area though.

Can’t catch a break! Ugh. Pouring out from the steering rack.

What’s the consensus on a used steering rack? I’ve heard good things about the Detroit Axle reman, but there’s lots of used OEM ones on eBay/similar for less than $100 more, some of which look really nice or have low miles.

Still haven’t figured out the differential leak. It’s going to the driveline shop as soon as I get my other car back together, which is hopefully soon…

I have the DA rack; it's been fine. I think fr33lancefab has oem remains as well. I dunno if I'd trust anything off fleabay...

The only reason I mention eBay is because they’re usually really good about returns or giving you your money back. I buy a ton of photography stuff and I’ve never had an issue returning something.

If something is listed as “used OEM” and isn’t when I get it, I could return it and get my money back.
