Nice. I googled love shuck. Appears to refer to the Damariscotta River if I understand it correctly. I need to get near some saltwater.

The child didn't look surprised at all.

    Nice post.
We saw Taylor Swift open for Avril Lavigne many years ago with our then teen daughter.
    BTW she is 31 now..:eek2:

My kids and I have seen hundreds of bands live and we went to EDGEFEST every year for many years.
Every show we see is from the pit..

Some of my ticket stubs over the years, it's a shame ticket stubs are a thing of the past.:(

My son and I went to Austin City Limits a few years ago just to see Milky Chance, Spoon, RHCP, and The Killers.
Spoon is a favorite band of mine..

I was also wondering about this, but didn't ask because I would be labeled as an un-hip Boomer. :(

You’ve got some great memories there! I would love to go to Austin City Limits. Texas has got a great music scene, it seems like.

I love to pull a black light out at camp after everyone has their sleeping areas all set up on a river trip. Always fun to find so many scorps hanging amongst us.

I think your first sentence explains a lot of it. But I'm with you, humanity does seem pretty dim and bleak at times.

I had a similar head unit (top of the line Alpine at the time) with a wireless remote. I always cracked myself up that I needed a remote for something I could reach from the driver's seat. It was installed at Audio Dimensions (I think that was the name of the place) in north Austin. They had done the system in Jimmy Vaughan's black dually Chevy pickup (with flames) and it was often in the parking lot as advertising.

I’d pay good money for an equalizer like that. No more 3 variables buried in the settings

I hope everyone had a decent weekend and has all their digits intact. I had a 4 day weekend and it just kind of sucked. Helped my son move, helped a good friend move, helped my son change his brakes on his car, moved the tractor from my Dads house to mine. No fireworks at all this year. We now live in a county where you can't even posses them. So there is always the huge aerial show that the county puts on, and I was looking forward to that, but it was cancelled last minute because the storage facility that was holding all the fireworks exploded. Super unfortunate because 7 people died. I am very much a maximize your time type of person so 4 days off and no adventure really puts me in a foul mood. To top it off I had saved a few pieces of sushi from last night for my lunch today. I went to the refrigerator this morning right before I left to find that someone (my daughter) ate them last night after I went to bed.

    Sushi:

had a gaggle of relatives up to the lake.

one was a vegan. (I know because SHE TOLD US)

well, she was telling us how she found vegan sushi at HEB (Texas Grocery store).

before my wife could stop me, I said "what the hell is that?"

the story she told, I'll paraphrase....a rice ball with seaweed.

today's kids are so much more stupider than we were.

Now, I'll just shout down the well:

I learn so much about folks when we host them at the lake.

some folks can just chill and be themselves.
those are the folks that are settled.
Calm, cool, successful (most of the time).

some folks are just plain weird.
They don't know how to enjoy life.

maybe, because life is so simple to enjoy.
you simply need the brain power to be able to do it.

social media brains are jumbled when it comes to sitting around a fire.

We are very welcoming for kids to try surfing (especially the girls).
we go out of our way to make it fun.
and we are damn proud of the kids that get in the water and try it.
takes guts to give a physical activity a go, these days
we make sure the whole boat cheers when they get up for the first time.

how rare is it, these days, for these cell phone addled kids to do something REAL?!

    and I'll add another observation:

    ready?

kids are a result of parenting.
    good=good, bad=bad.

As a parent that worked hard to raise good humans....it's easy for me to see the manifestation of bad parenting.

and how boring is it to be a vegan, while the rest of us eat the Meatzilla pizza?
