If you want all the "nannys" off it's simple:

Hold the traction control button for 4 sec.
Hold the traction control button for 4 sec again.
    Done. You will see this:

You should have one that came with the truck. Look in the glove box. Mine was laying in there. If not you can easily get one from TOYOTA

Will the truck run much different with the traction control off? Beside traction what are the benefits to turning off. Thanks

On ice/snow Ive found it easier to stop on your own and maintain the power driving you feel is necessary (while in 2wd)

This seems like a good a place as any to pose these questions. I have two questions that may have been answered elsewhere but I couldn't find it. I'm coming from a full time 4WD Grand Cherokee so this switching back and forth from 2 to 4WD is new to me.

    Question 1:
Whats the general opinion on shifting from 2WD to 4H on a fairly regular basis. Can this be done daily if needed? I've heard people say switching too often wears stuff out on one end, and on the flip side, that it should be done fairly regularly to keep parts from seizing. For example I often drive on dry roads in 2WD to a grass parking lot that when wet can get messy. If I feel I need to, I'll switch to 4H right before rolling onto the grass. -side note- I'm always moving between 5-10mph in a straight line when I make this switch as I feel that's the easiest on the...whatever parts do the moving around. at 5-10mph I feel a happy "click" as the switch is made where as at other speeds it feels like a less happy "clunk"

    Which brings me to...
    Question 2:
What does the moving ACTUALLY look like. I would love to see a 5 second gif of what that motion actually looks like. And if that doesn't exist, which I'm sure it does not, then perhaps an explanation suitable for a reasonably intelligent 12yr old should do the trick

Feel free to flip that switch as often as your heart desires.

As far a the actual mechanism goes, I don't know. I had the one in my 1st Generation Tacoma apart once and can't remember how that one worked. I'd venture to guess that they're probably similar though.

I wonder at what angle the curtain airbags go off....I had my truck borderline 70 degrees when I was dicking around with the fork lifts after the Long travel and it never went off...
