I had a 2021 Highlander with the JBL. The brochure said it "Sounds Like 1200 watts". They quit advertising it as such for very obvious reasons. A service tech looked up the specs on the system, and it was something like 32 watts. Oh yeah, the system in the Highlander was real trash. My 24 Tundra has the standard system that comes with the Limited trim, and it sounds much better. Sure, different system, different vehicle, but the fact that JBL anything is a waste of cash is a truth that will last forever.

Nah, the jbl system is pretty good in the third gen. It’s not GREAT, but it is pretty good.

I cannot say the same. Sure it sounds ok, but my previous truck had a Bose system and it sounded better in every aspect. Its not about the brand either, its just what I noticed.

I went with Kenwood eXcelon DFC-X3C coaxial speakers
    [IMG]

I had to make some adapters for the brackets in order for them to fit properly. Here is the post that covers the install: https://www.tundras.com/threads/wha...gen-tundra-today.104778/page-254#post-3750781

I want to replace the dash center speaker as well (which has the same OEM speaker as the corners) but I don't want to have to buy 2 more speakers when I only need 1. They are only sold in pairs.

No, but if you DM me with your e-mail address I can send you the 3D file. It seems the trucks (or the speakers) have changed over the years because I read someone had installed these on a 3rd gen and they fit perfect as is.

Adding to the list, everything so far that I’ve done since trading in my 2014 Tundra.

    25 SR5
    -Dobinsons IMS 3/2” lift
    -JBA off-road UCA’s
-Diff and sway bar drop (couldn’t get the extended axels due to stop sale so decided to go this route)
-Body mount chop front wheel well + trimming and removal of the front air spoiler
    -Method 316s 18x9 +18 offset
-Toyo Open Country A/T III 37x12.50R18LT
    -DuroBump bump stops
-TRD Pro fender flares, tailgate bar, front bumper insert, and shift knob. Grille marker lights as well. Made a custom harness off the trailer 7 pin under the bumper to get everything working.
    -LED turn signals
    -Diode dynamics hitch light
    -Blackout emblems
    -20% tint front windows
-Ark mid splash guards / mud flaps on rear and bed panel gap covers
-Banks pedal monster and iDash pro w/ pod mount
-GR86 rear view mirror swap (auto dim with home link) and custom harness for plug and play.
-Engine start/stop mod (Amazon special but works great)
-Some vinyl wraps for the door switches, matte black dash inserts for the Tundra stamp & steering wheel(because why not lol)
    -Matte shift trim panel cover
-Wanted wireless charging so routed an Apple wireless charger along the trim panel with some Velcro (not pretty but very functional)

Got a ton of inspiration and help from numerous posts on here!

    Nice goodies!
Did you decide against the pro grill with the marker lights?

Yeah I like the standard emblem over the pro grille but still like the clearance light look, hopefully they last since I had to go aftermarket.

And today I tighten the passenger mirror. The mirror was replaced by the Toyota dealer were i had my oil change. The scraped the mirror while trying to wash it.

Why does it seem like dealer service is a joke?

I had my 5000 mile "service"

They didn't set the air pressure, the lug nut torque was all over the place, and they left a grease smear on the door sill. I was thoroughly unimpressed with dealer service.

I'm not sure I want the dealer doing oil changes, but I want the maintenance record on the Carfax. I will not drive this truck out. I'll probably keep it 8-10 yrs.

I agree having the maintenance records is important. I’m going to let my local dealer do the couple free oil changes only. They’re a good dealer but I don’t trust them for any more than that and I’ve always liked wrenching on my vehicles.

A co-worker told me about the Car Care app. It’s by Carfax. It’s where you can log your maintenance and it goes on the VIN record just like if any other shop were to do it. It’s better than nothing but does take diligence to log every time. At least it’ll have the records for when things were done when you sell to someone and they look it up. I also keep up with a separate sheet with my maintenance notes.

I would recommend Car Care to keep up with the record for self maintenance.
