    Mack.

Also, Freightliner. Volvo fields an 16 liter engine.

The only thing this dude ever says about Toyota is negative things. Literally his one goal in life is to trash Toyota and make money.

Yeah that dude is annoying. Just like all the other YouTubers who say every single 3rd gen is garbage and is failing. Does it all for clicks and views! His subscribers are all 2nd genners most likely. Lol

Ain't nothing wrong with a 2nd Genner..... Lol. But yeah this guy constantly trashes the 3rd Gen Tundra. I hope all the issues with the 3rd Gen are resolved soon cause eventually I will be getting one.

Watched the video. Didn’t see any Toyota bashing really. Sounds like he’s discussing posted engine failures and saying the same things that are being said here. He even says he just bought a 2025 Camry.

I didn't even watch his vids, but will take your word for it. Thank you. Any video about a product with goofy face expression plastered front and center usually gets a pass in my book. You can get most of the information covered in these by simply googling.
    This is the way.

I thought they got the metal shards out of that equipment or something and that squared it away.

Is it possible this wasn't true and they've still been trying to fully nail the problem
    Down?

Possible? Of course. Who knows what’s true? Toyota will put the best spin on it that they can via their PR firm. I don’t have confidence that it’s totally figured out. Not getting rid of a truck that I love over it though. I’m banking on the odds being in my favor that I won’t have this problem. It certainly does make me cringe a little seeing a ‘25 near my build date with a failure.

For what it's worth, my motor still hasn't been completely torn down to find what the actual issue is, so maybe it's debris, maybe it's something else entirely

As long as we're speculating, "debris" doesn't have to just reside in the oil passages. If leftover debris existed between the cradle and crankshaft bearings, the bearings would not seat properly, potentially causing the front bearing to creep forward and block the oil passage for every other crank bearing, though I'm more optimistic than that. Mine is a 4/2025 build so older than the poster, anything's possible but by the numbers it's unlikely to have a problem. If it doesn't start showing signs early, it probably never will. My $0.02

Outside of body-on-frame vehicles, everything else in Toyota’s lineup is still top tier in terms of reliability.
Toyota just dropped the ball on anything using the TNGA-F platform.

Did Toyota contract everything out to Ford? I feel like since Toyoda passed on the reigns, the company is gone completely to shit and has flushed all its good will down the toilet in search of short term profits and marketing. What's the inside scoop here.

It has more to do with the newer crop of engineers and unknown how much of the previous knowledge was able to be passed down/understood.

For instance: the 2GR has a beefier cylinder than the V35A and it wasn't boosted to the same extent as the V35A. There were some specific applications with boost, but nothing like the V35A is seeing.

There have been failures on the T24A as well, both TMMAL assembled and Japan assembled.

I don't think Toyota can claim splitting engineering resources between ICE and EV as a root cause of ICE quality being impacted. They did not go all in on EV future like GM for example. If you buy an ICE GM at this point you are a fool that does not mind buying an orphaned product

I didn't mention GM or EV's, not sure where your heading with that comment. I know Toyoda was resistant to ev's and for good reason. But I don't think that's related to the current issues, but maybe I am wrong.

My point is that the new boss of Toyota is not nearly as good as the old boss. The old boss was sorta pushed out it seemed like at the time. Now we have what I call "New Toyota" and it's seemingly completely different business model/ culture and the final product seems to be suffering greatly. @sudobash says its the engineers fault. But the buck stops at the CEO's desk, or at least used to. Why were these young bucks who don't know anything, trusted to do everything? That's the bosses choice, not theirs.

*also somewhat unrelated. What do you mean by orphaned GM products. I have a current V8 ticking time bomb in our yukon, but they FINALLY seem to be getting around to their recall (I bought it knowning it was a timebomb, thats why I don't love the new Tundra but I won't call anyone dumb for buying one, I did the same thing with a worse company). Are you saying they won't fix them, or that they've sorta moved on from ICE and they don't care. I don't like GM in general, it was just the best option for that size car imo. Just curious is all.

As an engineer, I agree, the new crop of engineers is not looking good, at all. In the last 20 years, I've seen a decline in just general quality of engineers and their schooling, work ethic and mentality. With AI, it just seems to be getting worse.

I believe some of Toyota issues are beyond just engineering though. Supplier quality and part production is not as good anymore. I think I'm finally through replacing all the faulty parts on my 2020, probably about $2K+ in.

My venza has the 'terrible i4' engine plagued with problems according to youtube, but I dont seem to be having Amy problems 12yrs now. 60k mostly city miles and she's still tickling just fine.

I think internet sometimes can be doom and gloom:( I'm afraid of buying ANY vehicle now after reading forums.

Lots of great companies used to be run by engineers.

You replace an engineer with a business guy at the top the trickle down throughout the company is the products get worse because engineering and R/D is a just another cost to be controlled in the pursuit of profit.

    Think Boeing
