Hello everyone, new owner of a 25 tundra.

Have read through a couple threads about this subject already on here and some other forums, but was wondering if anyone had more input on the subject.

Anyone have any input on the diode dynamics ss6 fogs and the baja designs s2 SAE fogs in amber for these trucks? Looking at taking advantage of the sales going on right now.

Both seem like good options, baja seems to have a sharper cutoff, while the DD seem to have a little wider spread.

    Any opinions are welcome!
    Thanks!

The Diode SS6's are unfortunately quite outdated... Their replacements were supposed to be ready for sale a few months ago, but have been delayed several times. The SS6s are far cheaper than the Baja S2s because of their age and output in comparison to other 6" light bars.

My vote would be S2 SAEs

Thanks for the suggestions, I wasn't aware the ss6 were already nearing a redesign.

Is there any info on the update?

I'll put a tally towards BD.

I was just looking at fog lights also. One I saw was by Heretic. Those look nice but looks to be a pain to install. Boy o Boy is everything pricey.

    I have the DD SS6.
Pro: very bright output, relatively cheap compared to Baja, easy install (for both most likely)
Cons: lack a real cut off, flood significantly

if I used them more, I’d likely get the Baja Designs more for the aesthetics. Am I happy with the purchase, yes. Do I have buyers remorse when I see trucks with the BD, a little but that fades quickly with knowing I don’t use the lights often anyway since I have the lightbar if I need

Similar situation. Bought my SS6 set last year and I’ve been happy with them, but I don’t run a light bar.

I’d like to have a BD set I don’t use them enough to justify the BD price. The times I’ve needed the DD set to help while driving, they haven’t let me down. DD is a great value for the price.

    Thanks fellas.

So far sounds like it's kind of a win win either way.

I generally drive mostly back roads, gravel roads, etc in a rural area so most if not all the time I leave my fog lights on. I also drive a lot at night and dawn, and lots of snow storms in the winter time, so good fogs have always been a big help.

Sounds like the BD may be a better option so far since they have a better cut off vs the flood from DD.

Just ponying up almost 2x the amount for the BD is the stumper.

    Lots of stuff!
I got a used set of SS6 DD’s and had them in the Tundra. They are bright amd I used them all the time to help the crappy drivers see me.

When the Tundra went, I kept the lights and installed them in the not Tundra. Still the same crappy drivers so these really help.

One day, when we get some fog, I can actually see how they work for their intended use.

Personally my vote is diode. But I’d wait till the my put out their new ones. Morimoto is suggesting they may put out a kit soon. They will beat both out.

I'd say Morimoto won't. Someone here said they were doing headlight. I reach out this week and asked about the headlight. They said not at this time for headlights. Tundra is just not a popular truck.

I did DD because they were cheaper, and they did make a huge difference. I've been flashed a couple times, but it sure helps my old eyes see better.

I have the Diode Dynamics on both my Tundras. For the price and how often I use the fog lights they are great. The mounting is much easier and align better than Baja’s 4 S2s to do the same.

That said I’m going to use the money saved on Baja ditch, and LED light bars for the stock bumper and I’m planning on doing a SDHQ behind the grill with 2 On6+30” light bars. I may go DD for added reverse lights as they do a brake light/ reverse light combo.

Both are great brands and you can’t go wrong with either one.

For me it was the cost/benefit factor. I found a pair of amber DD fogs cheap and I think they are great. A definite improvement over stock. There is not a crisp cut off but for me, and the way I use my truck, I couldn’t justify the added cost for the Baja ones

I think for your use case (backroads, rural, etc) the cut off of the DD vs Baja will not be as noticeable in real life use. It might be when you park in front of the garage door like most of the videos online, but in real life not so much.

    Hey @Hollopoint94 ,

Glad to hear you are considering our fog light replacement kits! Below is additional info regarding our kits.

We offer two fog light kits: the S2 SAE and the S2 Sport. While there isn’t a third option listed on our website, you can create a custom kit that combines one S2 SAE /S2 Sport per fog light location.
The right choice depends on how and where you drive. For mostly city or street driving, the SAE kit is your best bet, and it’s street-legal and designed to have a sharp cutoff to help prevent flashing or blinding of other drivers. If you primarily drive on back roads, in remote areas, or off-road, you might prefer a Sport kit, or a custom setup might work better, but it is recommended for isolated conditions.

All of our kits are plug-and-play, including everything you need for a simple installation. Every light is backed by a lifetime warranty and features upgradeable internals, so you can upgrade to a different model in the future without replacing the entire light.

Our most popular choice is the SAE kit, delivering 1,210 lumens per light (2,420 lumens per fog, 4,840 lumens per kit). The Sport kit offers even more output, 1,581 lumens per light (3,162 lumens per fog, 6,324 lumens per kit) — but without the sharp cutoff or street legality.

At the end of the day, it comes down to what suits your needs best. If you have any questions or need guidance, feel free to reach out. I’d be happy to help, whether over PM or a quick call!

    Best,

Can't go wrong with Baja Designs, best service and warranty out there. I have the S2 Sport in yellow in factory fog location.
