So the stud can be removed and replaced?

That would be great since in reality I’m probably going to have to snap the stud/bolt to get in there.

You're overdue for an off-road sesh with the boys. In fact, I'd say most the Texas best gen boys are overdue.

yo, putting in a long order on the innernet and lo and behold the part numbers i put in that i scratched down ages ago auto re-route me to a new part number.
Somebody wanna help a brotha out.

So looking for LBJ, went to FredAnderson and put in my part number 43340-39595 and it didnt pull that up, but it came up with this

    https://autoparts.fredandersontoyota.com/products/product/joint-assy-lwr-ball-lh-4334039585

Basically instead of 39595 for the suffix it came up 39585
When i come onto here and put in the part numer 43340-39585 in the search bar there are zero found. So do you think somebody at Fred Anderson just got a single digit wrong on the part number??

Anyone here in the habit of fondling tree carcass?

got a floating shelf project. Its 2.5”x10” and 6 ft at its longest. Grandpa picked it up off the beach in galveston in the 90’s, and its been an outdoor shelf ever since.

Anyone painted their wheel wells? Mine are old and faded and I was thinking about spraying them but they probably won’t last that long anyway.

Hey all, I’m thinking about getting a set of ratcheting wrenches, I’ve never used them before but they look like they would be useful in many situations- who here has them and are they worth it? I’m looking at fixed ones, not flex heads.

Reversable ratcheting wrenches are great. Sometimes the window of clearance sneaks up on you before you get stuck.

I have some old school Craftsman ones as well as some newer Gearwrench ones, and they are invaluable honestly. Fixed heads, but not reversible so you have to flip them over; but that's not a huge deal. You get used to knowing how the wrench faces and which way it's going to ratchet.

I just wish they made them stronger so they’d survive when you put a wrench extender on them.

I have a set of the craftsman usa reversible ones from 20+ years ago. Great but nla.

My current favorites are the kabo (mfg) extra long flexheads with a bit of offset. They're branded under many names: mountain, platinum, ktool, cornwell, matco, etc. for ease of warranty for most, they are also sold at harbor freight.

I bought new ones up front. I think they were like $40 (ish) each purchased online for local pickup? I’d never ship, they’re blow-molded plastic.

I rubbed thru mine at the pinch weld, so there wasn’t much option.

I prefer Mountain brand. But the thing is this: Don’t care what brand you buy, the ratchet mechanism inside WILL break (or start perms-slipping) if you torque too hard. I had a drawer full of broken ones at one point. I think that’s what @Jack McCarthy was poking at above. Damn things are invaluable when you really need one. Especially for the serpentine belt tensioner, a 14”-18” one is in disposable for that task. Always test used ones by throwing some torque on them before committing.

I have a full set of Gearwrench (top) and old school Craftsman (bottom). I'd like to get a set for the truck so maybe I'll peep the HF recc.

Also found these random ones in my Grandpa's toolbox I inherited but they're SAE so they will stay there.

I have two full sets of the fixed Gearwrench ones in metric and they’re basically all I use. Watch slickdeals dot com for sales and they come up now and then.

That's the first video of his I've watched, seemed pretty concise. Pretty much sums up how I feel, the Gearwrench wasn't a bad buy for the whole set, and if I break only one, I may spring for a pricier one to replace it.
