I was searching for the best 2nd Gen Tundra's to buy used and found this. This may not be news to many of you but as someone who is just learning about Tundra's, I would love to get your input, thoughts and your experience.

    Years to Approach with Caution:
    • 2007, 2008, 2010, and 2012: These early models had a higher rate of problems, including air injection pump failure and camshaft issues.

I have an 07, bought since new. 315k on 5.7L 2wd. Only problem I've encountered is 1 radiator ( my doing ), 1 starter, hella batteries, 2 blown water pumps 1 under warranty. Have a current electrical gremlin to identify but runs good.

My advise, find one change all fluids and it should be dependable for a while. Worst case move up to the 2.5 gen same guts updated interior.

Any truck from those years that's still around do not have inherent issues with those parts or it would've shown up by now. Mine has 305k, starter went out at 215k, radiator went out at like 250k, anything else was self inflicted. You'd be hard pressed to find a more reliable vehicle in my opinion.

I just ran across one today that had 155,000 miles. It looks really good and is a 2015. The only problem is I prefer the double cab instead of the crew cab. Is the 2015 Gen 2.5?

Good to hear. There are a lot of these that are nice and priced right. What milage should I be looking for? I'm looking now for under 150,000 miles.

AI is right. 2014-2021 is best. And my opinion is totally unbiased and you can take that to the bank.

Mileage is almost irrelevant depending on maintenance. Within reason. I'd rather a truck with 200k miles with perfect service records done on time, over a 100k mile truck that hasn't had a single fluid changed. These trucks go a LONG time even with just half decent maintenance.

Never heard of camshaft issues. Air injection system is a common problem but there's ways to bypass it if it becomes an issue. I wouldn't let that sway me away.

Any 18 year old vehicle is gonna be having issues.

I still drive my '08 with 250k miles with no fear.

I've changed bearings, starters, radiators, alternator and still think it's a very reliable vehicle.

I grabbed a '21 just I would get another 15 years out of a very reliable vehicle.

Hey guys, I asked AI what the best Tundra is and it said this:

The best Tundra is the Platinum 2020 Crew Max. Super White is the fastest color.

Sorry to everyone who doesn’t have that.

It has been long proven that Super White is the fastest Tundra. Hell, it rips off the line so fast the paint peels off.

For the love of God, will someone please explain to people that AI is nothing more than a series of algorithms and searches of an already flawed internet database...

The same folks that influence how search results pop up in google, etc. are influencing what AI is generating...

    Enough already... :smash::smash::smash:

BTW... My 2008 Tundra. I've owned it since it was new. I've towed w/it for years. I've not babied it, but it has been reasonably maintained. It's still running and approaching 300k. Clearly, it needs to spend more time on the internet and realize it should be sitting in a junkyard rotting away at this point...

I don’t understand any of it. He was a good, albeit lazy, basketball player on a mediocre team. Why does that make everyone think he’s so smart? Because his nickname was “the answer”?

I have a 2010 with 140,000 miles. Only issue I have ever had was the steering angle sensor going bad.

I had secondary sir injection pumps fail and get replaced under recall.
    3010 tundra 4.6l v8
Truck drove better than new after repair, which makes me wonder if they were faulty from factory.
