I assuming that the dump tip will sound similar to the TRD pipe since it's just a straight pipe.

Correct, however it will be under the truck so it will be perceived as louder in the truck.

I bought OP's exhaust...this kit will not vibrate your ear drums at all. It has its loud spots when taking off around town and getting on the throttle a bit....once youre on the hwy, its VERY tame. I honestly feel like its quieter at WOT than when driving around town....at least inside the cab. See my shorts/videos

Just ordered the exhaust today. I'll post some pictures once I get it.

@eddiefromcali Super interested in this system - you got any more flyby videos to get a better idea on the sound from outside?

With the videos that are out though, this is a solid slip-on. Went ahead and purchased it. Let's see how much the tariffs are, if at all - I think SEMA did their lobbying.....

@eddiefromcali @Daedalus I'm doing the install later today. First step calls for cutting 2.25" in front of the muffler. It says you can measure from the weld line. Where did you guys measure from? Muffler body, center of weld line, or forward edge of weld line?

Don't want to give you wrong info, but I believe it is from the muffler body itself. Another thing you can do is grab a tape measure and measure the distance from the old exhaust tip portion flange that unbolts and measure to the front edge of the muffler. Take a note of this measurement and then compare that to the length of the new system from the flange to the clamp end. Don't forget that the existing portion from the downpipes will slide into the new muffler system, so be sure to add that length. So this = (new exhaust length (nl)) - (old exhaust length from flange to front part of muffler (ol)) = calculated total difference (td). The (td) minus the length that slides into the clamp portion (cp) of the new exhaust will be how much you need to cut from the muffler. So this = (td) - (cp) = amount you need to cut in front of the muffler. Measure twice cut once.

I got confused by the math... I accidentally cut the cats off.

Jk. Thanks for the idea. I'll definitely measure it out first.

Just measure from the muffler body itself. Worst case you have to cut more off.

I measured from the back flange and then the 2.25" lined up close with measuring from the weld. I guess it didn't really matter since I have the dump tip too. First impression is that it's loud. Lol good deep sound when getting on the throttle and kinda mellow when cruising at highway. Does scream if you floor it. I drove about 35 miles on the freeway and tried to find a good cruising speed where you don't hear it.. never found a sweet spot. It's pretty noticeable unless decelerating. I do like it though!

Have you tried it without the dump tube?

Nope. I installed it just like this and haven't messed or changed it at all. My impression of it has changed since that first week. I don't think I consider this super load now. It is still super fun and noticeable but its grown on me a lot. I think having this truck that is insanely quiet for 2 years then going to this was a huge change and took a week or so to get used to it. It isn't silent on the freeways tho.. I don't mind it but it is vocal.

@az 3rdGen - same. I haven't changed it. At first it sounded a bit droney - but its getting quite crisp and agressive the more I drive it. The droneyness would occur right a 2100-2300 having installed it right away. Since installing it, it's also grown on me a lot - and I love the added pop at the rev limiter.

What exhaust did you go with? And how do you like it?

I will add- I do really like it and am very happy with my purchase. I would recommend it to anyone that wants a louder exhaust.

I purchased an AWE exhaust, which sounds amazing. I think the Atlantic Built is a quality unit and would have been my second pick.

I was eyeing that one. Glad to hear you like it! its so hard to decide on exhaust with just online audio.
