Did the delta joint de-throne total chaos as the best UCA? Give your thoughts and reviews, thanks

I’m no expert on suspension, but it seems like an apples to oranges type of comparison.

All you did was post pictures. Care to explain how the "delta joint" is better than a fk uniball?

If you are just looking for opinions, then get total chaos.

Thanks, just wanted to see some reviews and opinions

Yes I posted pics, it’s part of the post, I have no idea which one is better that’s why I asked.

Depends on the application. I would run ball joints, I live in CA and don't see winter salted roads.

Plus, from what I believe, Icon will be releasing the Delta Joint for TC/Camburg and possibly other mfg uppers.

Or SPC has a their sealed greasable option, albeit that the delta is suppose to have better articulation. -Jon

Depending on the materials used. TC from what i remember uses chromoly tubing and is stronger than the other contenders for UCA's. The uniballs all use the same diameter shaft which would most likely be the first part to break, not the uniball. I'm happy with my TC UCA's; no grease, just spray! I also ditched the poly bushings and replaced with uniball pivots.

I just installed the Icon Delta joint. I like the idea of articulation without frequent maintenance. Also, sand from Pismo won't be an issue. TC, and Camburg make great stuff too. I think TC uses a 1" uniball and Camburg uses 1.5".

The Delta Joint was designed for the climates that the uniballs have not been able to stand up in. I.E snow, road salts, high moisture, etc. The Delta Joint in simple terms is a "sealed uniball" that is greased instead of using a teflon liner. ICON is estimating these to have life spans of at least 100K. The benefit of the Delta Joint is that you don't get the noises that are accompanied with a dried out or worn out uniball.

When comparing the uniball straight across to a Delta Joint, the Delta joint does have quite a few advantages.
    1. No noise with the Delta Joints
    2. The Delta Joint has a stronger pull out strength compared to the uniball.
    3. The Delta Joint is a one piece design, so no more misalignment spacers or broken spindle adapter spacers.
    4. Comes with a 5 year/100k warranty when used with Icon suspension kits
    5. Delta Joint gives you the same high misalignment angles of a uniball.

Only con would be cost of the delta joint vs a replacement uniball. But how many sets of uniballs will you go through in 100K miles? I would say ICON has the upper hand in this battle. They are in testing phase with the WSSX16T delta joint size which would be for the Total Chaos products and some Camburg. Mid to late next year they will have the larger Delta joints that replace the 1.5" uniballs. I like to think of myself as the Icon insider. :p

End of the day, an arm is an arm. They all pretty much do the same thing. The difference are so minut that 99.9% of people can't tell. Its just people knit picking small specs.

Both Camburg and TC use 4130. Icon uses DOM. But with that being said, I've never seen either bend or break under non-race circumstances that wasn't in a wreck, etc.

Well that made me feel good about buying the Delta Joint. Even better 'cause I got 'em from SDHQ.

What are the official articulation angles on a 1" uniball and the Delta Joint?

Total Chaos with heim joints or Icon Billets should work. My TC w/o heim joints didn't work on my 7" lift, I had the ends hacked off and replacted with adjustable heim joints.

I've been debating on the Chaos' for awhile now as I'm sure it would only add to my KING lift, but I have been cheap. Since I recently moved back to PA, the Icon's seem like a good choice since snow/road salt will be a yearly thing. Especially since PA loves to salt up the Turnpike :)

Definitely something I'm looking into.. it's all stock right now cause I have an 8" ready lift, so I was able to keep all stock coils and UCAs.. but I'm waiting to get coils so gonna go ahead and replace UCAs as well

Yea Im in CA as well out in the desert and the benefits of both a balljoint and uniball make the delta joint look better for people that move a lot(military)

yea their uniballs as well as regular balls look good too

    most likely going with TC

I hope they do, it would increase the survivability of the TC UCA in other weather conditions I think

yup, will be going that route

yea I considered them too but probably getting the TC

hmmmm fill us in with more info when you get it

k, let us know pretty please

good to know breh, I knew TC has the best materials, thanks for confirming my decision

yea i love speeding in the desert and my kings need a good uca to make them travel more, i think im set on TC

Thanks for your expertise good sir, TC will most likely be my choice, might order them from yall and get them cool stickers

    yup, thanks very much

thanks for the reply, might make a road trip to AZ check out their shop

good question, im thinking the uniball would still offer more articulation but dont quote me on that
